| Upon arriving at
Fort Smith, Arkansas and entering the small Harper Stadium, I immediately
spotted a very unusual monster truck. The truck looked like a giant
Hummer, but what really got my attention was it had seats in it and was
giving rides to people.

I just had to go check this out because of my own curiosity and the
excitement of the screaming riders. The closer I got, I could see a line
had formed to ride the Monster Truck. There were children, adults, people
of all ages, male and female, in line waiting their turn. I saw an older
gentleman at the gate taking the money for the rides. His name was Arliss
Brock, and as it turned out, he is the father of the owner / operator.

While asking Arliss
questions, I was doing my best to hear him over the roar of the huge 350
Chevy engine in the oversized Hummer.

From talking to
Arliss, I learned that Jeff Brock, owner and operator of the Sergeant
Smash ride truck, charges only $5.00 per ride. When I heard this I was in
shock, only $5.00 to ride in a Monster truck!! Thinking about things such
as the cost of fuel to haul this monster across the country (especially
with gas prices as high as they are), the fuel it takes to operate it, up
keep & maintenance, and not to mention, lodging & food expenses, I felt
that in this day and age, Jeff was giving a quality product at very
customer friendly prices.

Jeff was very busy and did not have much time to chat, but he did invite
me to take a ride. What a ride it was, an experience not to be forgotten.
The ride was very exciting as Jeff whipped the truck around the small
arena and was a chance to get just a little taste of what the drivers go
through during jumps and crushes.

When the ride came
to an end, Jeff backed up to some stairs that Arliss had ready for
passengers to exit at the back of Sergeant Smash. There was lots of
excitement from the passengers as they climbed down from the vehicle.

I thought this would be a good time to see if the customers thought this
was as good of an experience as I did. I spotted a nice looking family
going back to the stands from the ride. Chance DeMier, a 5 year old with
his parents, Robert and Jennifer, told me this was his third monster truck
show and his first ride in a Monster Truck. He was very excited and happy,
his Dad looked like he had a blast, and his Mom was a little scared, but
only because she was concerned for her 5 year old. Jeff takes the highest
of safety measures with Sergeant Smash, but its still a mother’s job to
worry, lol.

So Monster Truck Fans, if you’re ever at a show and see Jim “Sergeant
Smash” Brock reporting for ride truck duty, do not be afraid to pull out
five dollars and take a ride. I can assure you, it is well worth your time
and money!!
