PHOENIX MONSTER JAM!!

JANUARY 28TH, 2006 - CHASE FIELD

THE FREESTYLE COMPETITION (continued)

IRON OUTLAW

Lindsey Weenk in Iron Outlaw was next, looking to avenge his loss and the breaking of his Iron Streak earlier in the night.  I thought Mark McDonald in Safe Auto got some serious air, but Lindsey was the Michael Jordan of Monster Truck drivers tonight, literally flying through the air!!  I mean FLYING!!  Check out the pics from his Freestyle run.  The air would be too much tonight, as Iron Outlaw landed hard after one jump and broke his left rear wheel, ending his run early with 27 seconds left.  Lindsey Weenk’s run earned a score of 22, with Rod Wood staying safe on the hot seat for now.

MONSTER MUTT

Lee O’Donnell in Monster Mutt really did put on a great show doing a little of everything including donuts, wheelies, and great air, keeping the crowd roaring the entire time. Right as Lee’s time was ending, he stood the Mutt up completely vertical and it went over backwords, landing on its top!!  I can honestly say I could hear the crowd roar the whole time, but they did quiet down until they saw that Lee O’Donnell was ok.  Then another roar went up as he emerged from the truck, after his wild Freestyle run.  I guess Lee has taught Monster Mutt to rollover a little too well!!  Monster Mutt's score was 25, and he takes the lead!!

DRAGON SLAYER

The 2005 Monsters of Destruction Champion Kreg Christensen and Dragon Slayer was next up.  I was able to speak with Kreg before the show started and learned he was from Salt Lake City, Utah.  Kreg did an awesome job with the Dragon Slayer, doing everything he could to try to knock Monster Mutt from the top spot.  With a few seconds left, Dragon Slayers right front wheel broke.  Just not quite enough from Dragon Slayer this night as he would receive a score of 18.  Unfortunately, a low score would not be the ultimate disappointment for Dragon Slayer tonight, as we will soon see.
