- PABLO HUFFAKER IS JUS' SHOWIN' OFF!!

Team Grave Digger is back on top of the world standings, and it’s Pablo Huffaker with the lead. The veteran has won 4 of his 5 races, including a 106-point event in the Alamodome. Huffaker has not held the #1 spot since May 1st of last year.

Huffaker’s only loss this season has been to Lee O’Donnel on Friday night in the Alamodome. O’Donnel is filling in for Adam Anderson (who is filling in for his father in Grave Digger) and has made the final round in 4 of his 5 events. O’Donnel has yet to win this season, though, and is currently ranked 8th in the world.

The biggest news in the world standings has got to be SIR’s Sean Duhon, who is currently ranked 3rd! Duhon leads the Checkered Flag Productions series, and has 7 wins in 9 events! He has not had it easy, either, with competition including Team Bigfoot, Equalizer, and former CFP Champion Rob French. Being able to compete in the CFP Winter Nationals tour, Duhon will be facing tough competition every week, and that should help him maintain a competitive edge every week. Watch out for the SIR team this season!

- WEEKEND RECAP

ANAHEIM (USHRA) – Neil Elliot bumped himself up into 2nd place with a big win in Anaheim. Elliot defeated fast loser Charlie Pauken to advance to the finals, where he then knocked off Frank Krmel in Hot Wheels. Elliot is one of only eight drivers to advance to every final round this year.

ATLANTA (USHRA) – The biggest event of the weekend was the always rowdy Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Tom Meents won his first round match against Allen Pezo, but could not return due to breakage. Adam Anderson in “Grave Digger” lost to Scott Hartsock in his first round, meaning that the two big runners were out early. In the second round, John Seasock in Batman knocked off Hartsock, but the Gun Slinger made his way back into the brackets as a fast loser and the two met up in the finals. Once again, Seasock took the win and earned himself 120 points in the WMTRL standings.

GREENSBORO (USHRA) – Mr. Consistency Gary Porter has been consistently second so far this season, and he once again played the role of runner-up, as Dale Mitchell took his Predator Chevy into winner’s circle on Friday. Porter finally earned his first win of the season on Saturday, defeating rookie teammate Whit Carlton in the Turtles truck.

LAKE CHARLES (AMP) – Rick Long and Bigfoot #10 took hom both wins in Lake Charles, defeating Steven Hill on Friday and Devin Jones on Saturday.

LAS VEGAS (BM) – With Dragon Slayer out of action for the weekend with a blown engine, only four trucks took part in racing. Mike Hawkins in Equalizer won Friday over Kreg Christensen in Spiderman. Keith Sturgeon then defeated Bill Chapin during the afternoon event. With all four drivers getting a piece of the final round, Saturday evening saw the two previous winners battling for the weekend win. In the end, the Equalizer with Michael Hawkins beat Keith Sturgeon to the finish for his second win of the weekend.

NORTH CHARLESTON (USHRA)– Rick Raab has become known for being one of the strongest drivers in the winter months. He picked up two wins at the Coliseum, knocking off Gary Wiggins and Scott Poirier on consecutive nights.

SALEM (CFP) – Dan Runte continued his winning streak on Friday, beating Sean Duhon in the opening event. But Duhon shut the door for the rest of the weekend, winning twice on Saturday, with Rob French and Jon Zimmer taking 2nd place. Duhon’s strong performance this season has him ranked 3rd in the world.

SAN ANTONIO (USHRA) – David Smith won 108-points in a home state event in the Alamodome, as he knocked off Lee O’Donnel in the finals on Friday. Smith had problems with the truck on Saturday and failed to get out of the first round. Pablo Huffaker won the night, defeating Daron Basl in El Matador.

SAN FRANCISCO (USHRA) – George Balhan was winless in 2006, but finally made the winner’s circle it AT&T Park, defeating Rod Schmidt in the finals.

TOLEDO (Jim Morris) – Only Friday night has been reported, and it’s Steve Hearly in the new “Havoc” truck with the win over Bob Robbins.

WASHINGTON (USHRA) – After Randy Brown swept the Thunder Nationals last weekend in Rochester, Mike Vaters and company were looking for revenge on the Grave Digger team. On Friday night, they certainly gave it to Brown. In the first round, local favorite Jay Snyder in “Screamin’ Demon” knocked off Digger and advanced to the semi-finals! Digger returned, but was again defeated by Mike Vaters in his new Ford. Vaters ended up winning the night with Diehl Wilson in 2nd. Brown would not be denied this weekend, as he won the afternoon race over Vaters, but Black Stallion finished the weekend with another win against Wilson. Vaters and Brown are neck-and-neck in the standings right now, and appear to be building quite a rivalry this season.

WICHITA (USHRA) – Thunder Nationals action from Kansas saw Dan Patrick in the finals all three nights. On Friday, Mark Schroeder took the racing win, defeating Patrick in the finals. The Samson Chevy won the rest of the weekend, with Chad Fortune the runner-up in both finals. Patrick finds himself ranked 10th in the world.

No report from Colorado Springs, Dayton, Grand Forks, Hattiesburg, Kennewick, or San Angelo. Friday night from Toledo is reported, but not yet added, as we received it too late for this update. We have some scattered information from Youngstown, where Dale Benear earned 2 wins in 3 races. We also have 1 race of 5 reported from Tacoma, but we’re waiting on some more information before adding it to the standings.

- UPSETS OF THE WEEK

In Greensboro, Dale Mitchell knocked off Gary Porter in the final round on Friday night. The biggest upset, though, has to be Jay Snyder over Randy Brown in the first round in Washington, D.C.

- NEXT WEEK

Another 37 events are scheduled for next week, so we’ll have plenty of results to report again! The biggest events should be Detroit, Tampa and San Diego. In Detroit, Tom Meents and Team lead the Monster Jam crew to Ford Field. In Tampa, Neil Elliot will try to take over 1st in the world. Finally, in San Diego, Charlie Pauken and MOD Champion Rick Swanson will join all three members of 2 Xtreme racing on the big Qualcomm floor! And we don’t want to get Minneapolis, where a full force of independents will take on the LN hired guns inside the Metrodome!
The CFP Winter Nationals will be running a one-night event in Sioux Falls. Thunder Nationals in Evansville with Dan Patrick and Samson. More Monster Jam in Reno, Memphis, Kansas City, and Toronto! Plus races in Colombus, El Paso, Kalamazoo, Mobile, Jackson, Shreveport, Moline, and Binghampton!
As always, send us results from your events or post them on our message board on The Monster Blog!!
