TIRE PROS TRUCK & 4X4 NATIONALS (Page 2)

October 21st-22nd, 2006 - Firebird International Raceway - Chandler, AZ

After the first event, we had some time so Lynn and I decided to check out the Truck show and Vendor booths. Stopping by the vendor booths, every truck accessory known to man seemed to be represented. Speakers, tires, custom accessories, motorcycles, Jeeps, and much, much more. The Truck show really was unique, the largest I ever seen. Below are pictures of some of the show trucks. There were low riders, street trucks, off-road trucks, diesel trucks, dragster trucks and even a Chevy pickup made into a dump truck. This was advertised as the Largest Truck Show in the West and no doubt it was.

We had a little time remaining, so we headed back over to the monster truck pits. I had only met Linsey Weenk and Jimmy Creten once before. Knowing that they could not possibly remember me with all the media and fans they meet, I re-introduced myself. Linsey was busy fixing the bent wheel and flat tire from the first event, but took the time to say hello and shake my hand. Jimmy was signing autographs and we chatted for a few seconds. I asked Jimmy if his wife was with him. He called Dawn over and introduced her.  I wanted to meet the driver of Scarlet Bandit, but I also wanted to get her to autograph some programs I always carry with me--hers is one of the few we were still after. The Cretens were very friendly, and I took the opportunity to ask when she would return in the Scarlet Bandit. Dawn said the first or second week in January at the Anaheim, CA Monster Jam. The pleasure of meeting Dawn was all ours and I wish her the very best of luck upon her return.

In preparation for the 2:30PM show, the Firebird staff had moved a giant bus stack into position. This would make for a great obstacle for the drivers to tackle!!

SATURDAY 2:30PM INTRODUCTIONS

As mentioned previously, Introductions this time, as well as for Sunday's two events, would be a little different. Upon being introduced the drivers would come out and put on a small freestyle, giving the fans a taste of what is to come. See below for pictures of the Intro Freestyles!!

If you’re a Monster Truck fan and you've never seen a wheelie by Sam and Ronnie Sturges, you're missing something. If you have never seen Dan Runte, Jimmy Creten or Linsey Weenk jump a pile of boulders, you’re missing something. If you've never seen the pure mayhem brought on by Don Frankish, or Nathan Weenk in his flying Dinosaur, well, you're missing something. We were fortunate enough to see all these things in one afternoon at the Firebird Raceway!!
