MONSTER JAM (continued)

CHASE FIELD - PHOENIX, AZ - 1/28/2007

SEMI-FINAL ROUND RACING

Jimmy Creten takes on the fast loser, Chad Fortune in Superman. This being Superman’s first time in the less desirable near lane would make this race difficult for him and going into the final turn, Fortune tried the tight turn going up on two wheels, slowing him down as Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter flew to victory and into the final round.

Daron Basl in El Matador in the near lane takes on Grave Digger in the far lane. El Matador has had two victories in the near lane, but not this time as he has a slight slip-up in the first turn and that would be all Anderson needed. Grave Digger flies to victory and the inevitable final round match-up has been set.

FINAL ROUND RACING

Adam Anderson in Grave Digger must have had the quicker time in the Semi-Final round, because he would get lane choice. Not suprisingly Adam stuck with the far lane, sticking Creten in the near lane for the first time. Anderson drove a flawless race, and Creten came up about a truck length short. Anderson had won three major stadium freestyle contests leading up to this weekend, but this was his first big racing win of the year. Congrats to Adam on a job well done.

QUAD RACING

We always try to throw a couple pics of the filler entertainment in, and at the Phoenix Monster Jam it would be Quad Racing and Quad tricks. These guys can really ride their Quads and put them through the test.

FREESTYLE

Time for freestyle!!  As those of you who read my coverages know, I mostly let the photos do the talking in freestyle, so check out the pictures and the fan scores over the next couple pages.

Jack Koberna in Tuff E'Nuff was first out, but unfortunately would bust a power steering hose after only two hits and had to stop very early in his run.

TUFF E'NUFF'S FAN SCORE: 16

Rod Wood in McGruff was next out and would also have trouble right of the bad. On his first big hit, the right rear wheel slid off the stacked cars and as he came down, McGruff turned over. Not the showing Rod was looking to put forth after a great freestyle in last year's show.

MCGRUFF'S FAN SCORE: 14

Daron Basl had a good start to his run in El Matador, but trouble struck when he went for a sideways hit on the car stack. Basl made a great save to keep the truck from rolling over, but blew a tire in the process, ending his run early.

EL MATADOR'S FAN SCORE: 21
