O'REILLY MONSTER TRUCK RACING

SUPER SERIES IN FT. SMITH, AR!!

OCTOBER 1st, 2005 - HARPER STADIUM @ KAY RODGERS PARK

THE FREESTYLE COMPETITION (continued)

IRON HORSE

Billy Chapen was up next in the Iron Horse truck, and you could tell he was releasing some pent up frustration from some poor results and mechanical problems earlier in the night.  He roared the truck out onto the track, leapt over the near set of cars and then around and over to the van set.  He launched the truck off and over it and made his way down to the opposite end of the track, where he then pulled a nice donut.  He came back down the middle of the track and launched up and over the van set, and then brought it around in front of us and made a nice hit on the near set of cars.  Chapen whipped Iron Horse around and came back at the set from the other direction carrying some good speed.  Chapen then lined up for the van set again and made a great leap over it!!  The truck made a nasty sounding clink when he landed and the motor shut off, ending his run.  Overall, an excellent run from Billy Chapen, probably the best one so far!!

NITEMARE

The last truck out for Freestyle was probably the favorite to pull off the win.  Andy Hoffman brought the beautiful Nitemare truck out and started his run by launching over the Tough Truck jumps at the far end of the stadium.  Andy then came over and made an awesome hit on the near set, getting some great air!!  Andy spun the truck around and came back at the near set with some nice speed and lept right over the cars.  Nitemare then launched off the van stack with one of the best hits of the evening on that particular obstacle.  Andy came over the near set very slowly, and although I should have known, I wasn't sure what he was doing.  Then I realized he was lining up for the reverse jump!!  He took the Nitemare truck and absolutely launched it over the near set backwards, getting some great air, and on the landing, he rode it into a short backwards wheelie!!!  I had never seen anyone pull that off that well in reverse!!  Andy tried to get a donut going, but ended up just spinning it around to finish the run!!  A great run from Andy Hoffman and the Nitemare truck!!

The Freestyle was to be decided by crowd applause, and the loudest were definitely for Andy Hoffman and Melissa Stathas.  I think Billy Chapen got jipped a little bit, because his run was right up there with the others, but oh well, that's the way it goes.  I never heard an announcement over who was the official winner, but if I had to call it, I would give it to Nitemare and Andy Hoffman.  So congratulations to Nitemare and Andy for their win in Freestyle!!
