PHILLY MONSTER JAM!!
FEBRUARY 12TH, 2006 - WACHOVIA SPECTRUM
|
THE FREESTYLE COMPETITION PASTRANA 199
Now it was time for Freestyle!! The fans were really excited to see some great performances and they were not going to be disappointed!! Pastrana 199 was first up, but really never recovered from the rollover in the beginning of the show. The truck couldn’t be kept running, cutting Courtney' run short, and she only received a score of 12.
THE BROKER
Lou Antonozzi in The Broker had a few good jumps, but nothing too spectacular, earning him a score of 17.
TEAM SUZUKI
Kathy Winston in Team Suzuki had a good run with some great air and scored an 18, just barely taking the lead from The Broker.
MONSTER MUTT
Kathy’s husband, Bryan, managed a score of 23 with some amazing wheelies and some great air in the Monster Mutt, becoming the new leader!!
EL TORO LOCO
Lupe Soza and El Toro Loco had a great run and really wowed the fans, but only received a score of 22 from the judges, not quite enough to take the lead from Monster Mutt.
TRAXXAS T-MAXX
Carl Van Horn, the Racing winner, scored a 23 in T-Maxx with a truly amazing performance. Carl really attacked everything on the floor and got some amazing air and some great wheelies!! The score of 23 would only be enough to tie Brian Winston in Monster Mutt for the lead, with only two trucks left to go.
BLUE THUNDER
Tony Farrell in Blue Thunder put together a great run and finished with a score of 24, making him the new leader!! Only one truck was left, but with that particular truck still to go, no lead in Freestyle is safe . . .
GRAVE DIGGER
After the performance by Tony Farrell, the crowd was wondering what Chad Tingler in Grave Digger had in store!! The cars were all pretty well flattened by this time but Chad attacked the obstacles with a momentum that wasn’t seen from the rest of the lineup. He also hit all the cars sideways during his great run, earning him a high score of 29 and the Freestyle win!!
THE FINAL WORDS
We all had a great time at the event, and all the drivers and crews put on a fantastic show for the fans. One impression that I have from this show is that rookie Courtney Jollie has a lot of talent and will be one of the rising stars in the sport. She attacks the obstacles without fear and she appears to be a natural. Carl Van Horn put on an amazing show and really seems to fit in well with the T-Maxx truck. We were really glad to see The Broker at the show and we wish him a lot of luck and success in the future.
We can’t wait until our next
show which will be on 3/18/2006 in Wilkes Barre. I am anxious to
bring the coverage to you all and my thanks to Ross for giving me the
opportunity!! Until next time!! - Dave VanArtsdalen
