THE FINAL ROUNDS

NITEMARE VS. GOD, GUTS, & GLORY

On to the the next round of Monster Truck Chicago-Style racing!!  This matchup would put first-round winners Nitemare and God, Guts, & Glory up against each other, for what would turn out to be the best race of the night in the Chicago-Style racing.  The trucks were dead even over the first jump, stayed right with each other through the turns, and came over the final jump neck and neck!!  In an extremely close finish, Andy Hoffman took the win over Melissa Stathas, but a great run for both trucks.

NITEMARE VS. GOLD DIGGER

Now Andy Hoffman would have to knock off Devin Jones, creating a re-match from the Straight-Line Drags Competition from earlier in the night.  This race would not turn out to be so close however, as after coming over the first set right together, the Wildfire truck would shut off in the corner, leaving Andy Hoffman to finish his run for the victory!!  Congratulations to Andy on the win in Chicago-Style tonight!!

TOUGH TRUCKS FINAL ROUND

Didn't get to take too much pictures or video from the Final Round of the Tough Trucks as I was running out of memory space, and needed to save the rest for the Monster Truck Freestyle at the end of the night.  I did however capture a great run by Robert Hand in the Bearfoot Tough Truck.  Robert had a great run in the Finals, and afterwards ripped an awesome donut for the crowd!!

Another couple of interesting stories came out of the final round of the tough trucks.  For one, Steve Darnell in the awesome Mischief Tough Truck had a wild run!!  He got some incredible air off the far jump and the truck landed funny, so that he was headed straight at the row of Monster Trucks!!  If Darnell had slammed on the breaks, he would have plowed right into the Iron Horse truck, but with a piece of awesome driving, Darnell slid the tough truck right past the row of Monster Trucks, breaking off his tail-light on the front tire of Iron Horse!!  I didn't get any pictures of it, but Dad captured it on his camera with a short MPEG video, so check out this crazy run, and then read the rest of the story!!

While we were at the event, I met Kaedon Berry, who some of you may know from the Mayhem board.  He was standing behind the tire of the Iron Horse truck filming the event on his video camera when this wild run occured.  You can't really tell in the video but Kaedon had to jump out of the way as Darnell brushed up against Iron Horse's front tire, breaking the tail-light off the truck!!  Here is a picture of Kaedon where he was standing, after the incident, and you can see the tire tracks going right past the Monster Trucks!!

DRACO THE DRAGONATOR

Tonight was my first experience seeing Draco the Dragonator eat a car!!  And eat the car he did!!  Draco came out blowing fire, and picked up the car numerous times dropping it from high above the arena.  The highlight had to be when Draco folded the car in half, picked it up and showed it around the arena.  The kids in the crowd loved it, and it was a lot of fun to watch!!
