THE CAR SHOW (continued)
This first car pictured on this page was my favorite from the event!! Of course wouldn't you know it my wife's favorite is the one that won, lol. Winner is a little further down the page. This beautiful 1923 Ford T Bucket is the pride and joy of Rick and Annette Keuper from Lincoln, MO. They would end up taking second in the overall contest.
With the exception of maybe one or two cars, that was the whole field from the car show!! Later during the announcement of the winners, there were 12 different individual class winners. I have pictures of those folks receiving their trophies, but I have not yet been emailed the results so I do not know their names / which cars were theirs. If any of those 12 winners are looking at this, shoot me an email and I'll send you a picture of you getting your trophy!
But the real prize was the overall Best Car in Show Award. Along with it came a GIANT trophy that anyone would be proud to receive. A very nice old gentleman named C.A. Smith who brought down the red and white Chevy Bel-Air (think that's what it was) took the victory!! Kind of funny, that was my wife's favorite car and pick to win the show. As mentioned above, My favorite finished 2nd. First picture is of Mr. Smith receiving the winner's trophy from event promoter Gail Bryant. Second is him with his trophy and his award winning classic car.
Before we get to Bigfoot, I just wanted to recognize one of the sponsors of the event. Cars from Lindsay Ford, including this 2006 Mustang were on display as well, and the event probably would not have been possible without the help of sponsors like Lindsay Ford. Big thanks to Lindsay Ford!!
Well, finally, on to BIGFOOT!! We walked over to where the truck was parked and took some pictures. When I first saw the truck, I was very happy to see that it was Bigfoot 10 with the awesome 30th Anniversary scheme on the truck. I was even more excited when I saw the name above the window. Shane Blair!! The man who put on an awesome performance back in Washington, and who immediately made me a fan would be here doing the car crush today!! I was excited because I didn't get a chance to meet him in Washington, and I had to meet the man that THE MONSTER BLOG nicknamed Shane "Air" Blair, in our coverage of the Washington event.
Some folks over on the Mayhem board were commenting about what a great looking truck Bigfoot 10 is and how it stands out of the Bigfoot fleet. I must agree, and as much as I love the American Flag Bigfoot 8, I was really excited to see Shane Blair in Bigfoot 10 with the 30th Anniversary scheme.
I took this picture and wanted to feature it on here as a way of paying tribute to Dan Patterson, who recently passed away. Dan Patterson was the man behind the Bigfoot paint schemes for so many years, and he sure came up with a hit when he did the 30th Anniversary scheme. Although Dan is gone, his work lives on in every appearance Bigfoot does, bringing joy to Monster Truck fans everywhere.
Next up it was family picture time with the awesome Bigfoot monster truck. I can't even express to you all how cool it was to have my son with me and have our picture taken with the Bigfoot truck. It will be even cooler in a couple years when he is a giant Monster Truck fan just like his Daddy. There is also something sexy about a good-looking woman like my wife standing in front of a Monster Truck, lol.
Next up we headed over to the fairgounds across the street where Bigfoot would be doing the car crush a little later on in the evening. Figured we'd get a few pictures of the setup before everyone got over there.
While we over checking out the setup, we noticed that the Bigfoot hauler was parked in back of the grounds as well. We walked over and took a couple pictures of the very cool hauler that transports Bigfoot all over the country.
We then headed back over to the car show because it was almost time for the award presentations and for Bigfoot to fire up and move over to the fairgrounds.
