ROLLING THUNDER M.T. CHALLENGE

JANUARY 7TH, 2005 - GLENDALE ARENA

FREESTYLE COMPETITION (continued)

MONSTER PATROL

Next out in the First Round of Freestyle was Rex Smith in Monster Patrol.  Tonight, Rex would put together a strong run, getting some great air off the cars, and working some of the hits into very nice sky wheelies.  The run didn't have the "wow" moment that Sam Sturges's run did before him, but overall, he used the full time and had a very solid run.

TORQZILLA

Larry Quick was back behind the wheel of Torqzilla for Freestyle, and was ready to go for the win, already having the night's Wheelie contest victory under his belt.  Larry started his run out with a few nice hits on the cars, but saved his best move for the end of his run.  Hitting the near set of cars, Larry popped the truck into a sky wheelie and landed perfectly vertical.  Smashing on the gas, Quick was able to ride the wheelie all the way across the cars, dragging the tailgate the whole way!!  Talk about throwing in the "wow" moment!!  Even with the solid runs by Sturges and Smith, that move probably put Quick in the lead for the First Round at this point!!

BEARFOOT

The final truck out in the First Round of Freestyle was Don King in Bearfoot.  King started his run off with a couple of good hits on the cars, turning them into awesome sky wheelies.  Like Larry Quick before him, he saved his best move for last.  Don got a solid hit on the far set of cars, but Bearfoot took a bit of a strange bounce.  Reacting quickly, Don mashed the gas which put the truck into a wild, wobbly, wheelie that he carried off the cars on the floor, riding on one wheel at one point, and nearly turning over!!  That was definitely the move of the night, and when added in to a solid overall run, that should be enough to edge Larry Quick for the win!!
