MLMT Names RaceCeiver Official Timing and Scoring System!!: (Lubbock, TX) The Major League of Monster Trucks (MLMT) once again has proved that they are the “Next Generation of Monster Truck Racing” by announcing today that they have contracted RaceCeiver as its official timing and scoring system for the upcoming MLMT season. RaceCeiver, based out of Gainesville, GA, is a leader in the electronic scoring and race scanner industry.
RaceCeiver’s Race Management System will be providing real time scoring and telemetry information for every race live through the internet for fans at home and to the fans and competitors at the event. Utilizing a transponder system mounted on each truck the Race Management System will be able to measure the driver’s reaction time, truck speed and elapsed time at various race loops on the track and of course the winner of the race. All of this information will be available for fans in real time via the mlmt.com website. Additionally this system will provide this information in real time to each race team crew through the specially designed scanners.

RaceCeiver Elite                                                     RaceCeiver TruScan

In addition to the Race Management System, the MLMT will be using the RaceCeiver Elite radio for its unique driver communication system. The Elite radio is a one-way communication system where race officials can talk to the drivers to inform them of any issues on the track on to cue or to inform the driver that their race heat is ready to begin. The Elite radio will also supply individual truck speed information to the driver in real time.
“We are excited about all of the technological advancements that RaceCeiver will be bringing to the MLMT,” said Debrah Miceli, Executive Vice President of MLMT. “We feel that this one-way communication system with the drivers will make a much smoother and efficient event, not to mention the additional safety aspects of the system.”
RaceCeiver currently supplies scanners for fans to listen to their favorite drivers at NASCAR’s Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman truck series events and also at ARCA, IRL, ASA, American LeMans (ALMS) and Rolex GrandAm Sports Cars series events. This season MLMT fans will have an opportunity to rent or buy the “World's Smallest Scanner” which they will be able to listen to the race officials and to get the results for each race in real time.
“RaceCeiver is thrilled to be able to provide our high quality product to a whole new group of racers and fans,” said Hector Perez RaceCeiver’s sales manager. “It is a great feeling being able to provide a product that will help enhance the racing competition and at the same time benefit the fans enjoyment of the race.”
This is the Major League of Monster Truck’s first full season featuring Monster Truck racing at the premier motorsports venues in the United States. The season kicks off at the Memphis Motorsports Park oval track on Saturday April 26th. For more information on the Major League of Monster Trucks go to www.MLMT.com. Obsession Racing Road Update!!: (Menifee, CA)  In six weekends, the redesigned Obsession has been seen at six different venues and four different states. The first two events were held in Anaheim and San Diego California. They were also the first two events for the mini Obsession (trophy kart) with our son Eric Swanson racing behind the wheel.
The next weekend we headed down to Phoenix Arizona for the televised Monster Jam event. Eric in the mini Obsession won both rounds of racing having all of the Monster Truck drivers and excited parents cheering him on around the side lines. Rick lead a hard charging qualifying run and first round that put him up against one of the best in the business, Maximum Destruction. Rick ended up sliding out in the corner and Maximum Destruction took the win. In freestyle Rick was the first one to hit every obstacle including the big air freestyle ramp. Unfortunately in doing this, it broke off his left front tire. But this didn’t stop Rick for his freestyle. He ended the show doing some awesome three wheel donuts.

From Arizona we went on to Oakland California and made it to the semi finals. It was a total mud bath. It was all you could do just to get around the track. The drivers were having trouble even seeing out their windshields and even the crowds had a hard time identifying the trucks as they were totally covered in mud. A huge thank you goes out to Jeff Jones for trucking through the mud by foot and spending 5 & ½ hours of pressure washing, just to be able de-tire and load the truck!
The next weekend Rick and Eric traveled together to Portland Oregon for the next Monster Jam event. It was a weekend totaling three events. All three events had Eric in the mini Obsession doing the track explanation hamming it up to the crowd. He had no problems being in the spotlight. This weekend Rick was in the final round on Saturday night and the semi finals on Sunday.
From Oregon we traveled to Salt Lake City Utah through sleet and snow. This was another three event weekend. Eric also got to do the track explanation. Rick had the pressure on him for this weekend as Live Nation booked the Obsession as a head liner truck. Rick didn’t let them down as he went to the finals on Friday night and placed third in freestyle. He won both final rounds on Saturday and won second place in freestyle.
Our next event will be in Fresno California on March 14th and 15th and following that we will be doing a display for our sponsor Norman Vineyards. For more information on the Obsession Racing team, be sure to check out www.ObsessionRacing.com!!  (02/22/08)

Thank You From Michael Harper Motorsportsl!!:  Received the following message and photo from former owner / driver Michael Harper: "I would like to take this time to thank the people and companies that have supported Michael Harper Motorsports over the past 8 years. After the first Monster Truck show in Buffalo, NY in 2001, to the last event in 2007, it was a great time for my family and myself. After parting ways with business partner Paul Shafer in 2005, I moved from the Carolina Crusher to the build of the Outlaw. After several years of the build, I decided to pull the plug, and move on.

I was asked last week if I had a chance, would I have done it different? Absolutely not. I had a lot of fun, and was introduced to a lot of wonderful people. I truly believe, that if you have a dream to be something, then be the person that you want to be. You only live once.
The future: I will promote a couple of events each year, and enjoy my home life. Have Fun, and cya down the road... Michael Harper"  (02/22/08)

Monster Truck Challenge Expands for 2008!!: (St. Louis, MO)  Monster Truck Challenge, the oldest name in monster truck racing announces an acquisition by ProMtr, LLC, short for Professional Monster Truck Racing. “We’re ecstatic about the future of our sport and this company with the new leadership coming on board. This is the goal we’ve been working towards for several years. Becoming a part of ProMtr affords us the opportunity to expand our roster of events and take monster truck racing to a level it’s never been before. The 2008 season marks the 20th anniversary for monster truck racing as a recognized sport and thanks to ProMtr we can celebrate the sport in the fashion it deserves. There were skeptics that said this was a fad when it all started 20 years ago. We are still here and the sport is bigger than ever. More than 5,000,000 fans attend monster truck races each year!” said Rich Schaefer, General Manager of the Monster Truck Challenge.
The new parent company brings with it the experience and financial backing of Benny Brown, a California based entrepreneur with existing ties to the auto industry and entertainment business. “We’ve been watching the monster truck industry for several years now and see a lot of potential not only for expanding the motorsports property itself, but also utilizing our resources within our other business lines to cross promote events.” Benny Brown presently owns and operates four major car dealerships in Northern California, along with other successful ventures in the music industry. The companies will operate completely independent of each other but will collaborate on promotional and marketing opportunities.
The 2008 season will once again include a stop at North Carolina’s Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the Back To School Monster Bash and will likely expand to include several other high profile racing venues including Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis, Missouri. Future plans call for a total schedule of 12 stops from coast to coast, crowning a champion in late October. True to the Monster Truck Challenge philosophy, the events will feature the longest and most innovative racing courses in the sport. The 2007 season saw the designers from Monster Truck Challenge debut “circuit style” racing layouts and “cross-over” jumps never before used in monster truck racing.
Outside entertainment consultant, Jim Yerger stated, “It’s very refreshing to have a product like this to work with. It’s a sport that appeals to the kid in all of us. You never outgrow monster truck racing! Monster truck racing always returns the favor by providing a family friendly night out together at an affordable price.” Yerger also speaks of bringing more community oriented aspects to the events such as programs to help school districts acquire much needed equipment for their music programs. “The Monster Truck Challenge is just as much about the sounds as the sights. A 2,200 horsepower engine makes a very sweet sound as do musicians and vocalists. It’s all entertainment. And it’s all music to the spectator’s ears. We are going to incorporate high profile country music recording artists and monster truck racing together at select 2008 events.”
The Monster Truck Challenge features the biggest names and most historic teams in monster truck racing including Avenger, Bigfoot, CSK Bounty Hunter, Brutus, Equalizer, King Krunch, Raminator, Samson, Tailgator, and T-Maxx.
For more information check out www.MonsterTruckChallenge.com or contact by email at pr@monstertruckchallenge.com. (02/21/08)

Dennis Anderson Has Commanding Lead on "Road to the World Finals"!!:  The Monster Blog's "Road to the World Finals" ranking system has been a great tool to measure a driver's success on the Monster Jam tour this year, and Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger is having one of his best seasons ever!!  After a racing runner-up and a big freestyle win in St. Louis this weekend, Dennis now leads second-place Tom Meents by nearly 50 points!!  Jimmy Creten re-took third place overall with his St. Louis racing victory, while the rest of the top 10 remained about the same as last week: Charlie Pauken, Neil Elliot, Randy Brown, Pablo Huffaker, Linsey Weenk, George Belhan, and Carl Van Horn.

There was some shuffling for that all-important 24th position in the unofficial standings this week, as Lee O'Donnell now sits on the hot seat, just barely ahead of Dawn Creten (Scarlet Bandit), David Smith (King Krunch), and Steve Simms (Stone Crusher). Monster Jam officials have started to announce this year's official World Finals lineup, and the following have been awarded the right to compete for the season titles (with their position in the "Road to the World Finals" standings in parentheses):

Creten, Anderson Take Wins In Wild St. Louis Monster Jam!!:  Monster Jam returned to St. Louis with some of the series' biggest stars for an action-packed night of racing and freestyle!!  The huge Chicago-style course featured some very close races, and some incredible saves. After each working their way through the brackets, Jimmy Creten piloted Bounty Hunter to the racing victory over Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger in a classic final round battle.

The freestyle course rivaled that of the World Finals in Vegas with huge obstacles that resulted in trucks catching some absolutely jaw-dropping air. Bobby Parr in Team Suzuki grabbed the early lead and managed to hold it despite strong runs from John Seasock in Batman and Lupe Soza in El Toro Loco. Dawn Creten caught some of the biggest air of the night in Scarlet Bandit, while George Belhan pulled off an awe-inspiring save to keep Escalade from going over. But Dennis Anderson roared out onto the track and put together a legendary freestyle in Grave Digger to take the lead. After a hard rollover in racing, Tony Farrell in Blue Thunder was thought to be done for the night, but just after Anderson finished, a rebuilt Blue Thunder came roaring out to the track. Farrell put on a strong freestyle run, but couldn't outdo Anderson, however, the fact that he returned to the track at all is a testament to the hard work of his crew--our hats off to them. Tom Meents in Maximum Destruction was the final truck to take to the track, but after a strong start to his run and a gigantic leap over the center buses, a front wheel popped off. Meents continued on with big air over the a bus stack on three wheels, but when the axle hit the ground, Max D rolled violently putting an end to his run and clinching the victory for Anderson.

This year's event was definitely one of the wildest St. Louis fans have ever seen, kudos to the Monster Jam crew on a great show. A huge thanks to all of the drivers and teams for their hard work and efforts. Photos coming your way soon, stay tuned!! (02/17/08)

Mark Hall, Kreg Christensen Dominating In Albuquerque!!:  The Tingley Coliseum is filled with the sights and sounds of Monster Jam this weekend, and Monster Blog Staff Member Lauren Z. Bonar is on hand for all the action!!  Friday night would see Mark Hall in Raminator take the racing win and Kreg Christensen in Iron Outlaw bring home the freestyle victory with a perfect score of 30. Saturday would be much the same story, as Hall piloted Raminator to the final round victory over teammate Geremie Dishman in Rammunition. Hall is now 3 for 4 in Monster Jam racing competition this year. Christensen put on another great performance to pick up Saturday's freestyle victory. They do it again tomorrow as Hall and Christensen look to take weekend sweeps in racing and freestyle respectively. A special thanks to Eric Minger and the Monster Jam crew for their hospitality, and to all the drivers and teams for their hard work. We'll have a recap from Sunday's event along with more photos coming your way soon!!  (02/16/08)

Champaign Monster Nationals Recap & Teasers!!:  The Monster Nationals 15th Anniversary Tour rolled into the Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL for one night of monster truck action!!  The racing finals came down to the same match-up that we expect to see all season in Monster Nationals racing: Doug Noelke in Tail Gator and Dan Patrick in Samson. Doug got the jump on the start and just edged out Patrick for the win, still undefeated this year in Monster Nationals racing.

Freestyle would see solid efforts from Jocelyn Perrin in Lil' Miss Dangerous and Shane Smith in Ironman, but Bobby Holman in his Beast kicked it up a notch will great wheelies, a reverse move, and a strong donut. Holman set the bar high, but Noelke was on kill in freestyle, keeping up great momentum on the small floor with nice wheelies and awesome donuts. In the end the cheeroff would go to Noelke, giving him the lead in the overall freestyle championship.

In other competition, Jocelyn Perrin grabbed the crowd nod in the donut contest over Bobby Holman while Noelke in Tail Gator and Patrick in Samson tied for the wheelie contest victory.

HBR Announces New Associate Sponsors for 2008!!: (Champaign, IL) Hall Brothers Racing is pleased to announce the addition of some new associate sponsors in 2008. Losi, makers of top quality radio control vehicles has joined the team, as has Firebug distributors of the Coldfire Fire Suppression System.
Losi introduced a line of Raminator and Rammunition vehicles in various scales recently, and they have been very popular. “We feel like Losi was the best company to represent our Raminator and Rammunition trucks in the R/C industry” said Hall Brothers Racing president Tim Hall. “They race to win, just like we do!” Championship winning driver—Mark Hall added “the quality of these R/C vehicles is first rate. Losi makes all kinds of parts for them to make them do some amazing things. They are really cool!”

Firebug, headquartered in Clifton, IL is a full service fire & safety system dealer. The whole Hall Brothers fleet will now be equipped with Coldfire Fire Suppression Systems. “This stuff is amazing, said team driver Geremie Dishman.” “I saw some drag racers using it, and we looked into it. This is a great, environmentally friendly way to protect our drivers” added Tim Hall.

ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Crew Visits 2Xtreme Racing!!: (Toganoxie, KS) ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition pulled off another miracle last November. The crew built a brand new home in Kansas City for Daniel Gileat, an Iraqi war veteran who lost most of one leg during his service. The Gileat family has been enjoying their beautifull new 2,900 square foot home for about 2 months. The new house replaces their former 900 square foot, 2 bedroom one that had been hastily modified to make it accessible for Daniel.

One of the Gileat's 2 boys is a huge monster truck fan. The plan was to demolish the original house with Bounty Hunter, but the stunt got halted by ABC's lawyers and insurance company. Instead, designer Johnny Littlefield came out to our shop for some 'monster truck inspiration'. While designing the kid's room he wanted to get a better understanding of why the kids love monster trucks so much. After some instruction, Johnny took Bounty Hunter for a short drive before turning the wheel back over to Jimmy for a demonstration of the trucks capabilities. The episode airs this Sunday Night at 8/7 Central on ABC.

MLMT Debuts @ Milwaukee Mile In July!!: (Lubbock, TX) The Major League of Monster Trucks (MLMT) will debut at America’s Legendary Oval, The Milwaukee Mile, on Saturday July 19th. The MLMT is known for its big and fast monster truck competitions where trucks will reach speeds of over 70 miles an hour on a specially designed dirt course.
The highest cash payout ever offered at a monster truck event will be up for grabs. The historic $100,000 purse is expected to attract over 20 trucks to qualify for the 16 truck field.
Once the field is set, a one-on-one bracket race format will crown a racing champion. After the racing concludes, all 16 trucks will go all-out in a Freestyle competition, judged on tricks, stunts and pure mayhem.

The race course will be built on The Milwaukee Mile’s front stretch and pit road, with fans experiencing up-close MLMT action like nowhere else. The fan favorite monster truck Bigfoot, driven by Dan Runte, and many other top name drivers has already signed up for this year’s event in Milwaukee. The qualifying session at the track starts at 3pm with the racing and freestyle action kicking off at 7pm on Saturday, July 19th.
“We are looking forward to our debut in Milwaukee this summer,” said Joe Froome, MLMT CEO. “With The Milwaukee Mile’s history of over 100 years of continuous operation as a premier motor sport venue, it is only fitting the Major League of Monster Trucks is included with their great history.”
The stop in Milwaukee is one of ten on MLMT’s national schedule that kicks off in April and ends in October. At each of this year’s events, points scored for Racing and Freestyle competitions count towards the MLMT national championship, where the winner is crowned at the Monster Ball Awards at the end of the season.
Additionally, a limited number of “Monster Fan Zone” packages will be available, which include the best seat in the house, a free MLMT seat cushion, a checkered flag and exclusive passes to the post-event Pit Party with the drivers and their trucks. “Monster Fan Zone” tickets are priced at $50 for adults and $25 for children, available on a first-come basis.
Reserved seat tickets are now on sale through an arrangement with The Milwaukee Mile ticket office, with reserved seating priced at $20 for adults and $10 for kids. General admission tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $5 for kids. All tickets are $5 more per ticket on the day of the event. Tickets are available now by calling (414) 453-8277, or by visiting the speedway’s website, www.milwaukeemile.com.

CFP Press Release: Casper, It's Big Air Time!!:  (Bridgeport, TX)  For the past 20 years we have been coming to the Casper Events Center and every year we see old friends and make many new ones. We have done it all inside that building but this year could possibly be the best ever for an all around event. This year the monster truck lineup is off the hook!
Bigfoot returns with last year's winner Traxxas T-Maxx, plus Sudden Impact, Monster Moose with Jennifer Campbell, Public Disturbance, Monkey'N Around, the Bumble Bee ride truck and FMX Motorcycle Jumpers, plus Speed Moto X Races for Quads and Motocross motorcycles.
This weekend in Casper is part of the Monster Truck Winter Nationals Championship points race and these racing points as well as monster truck car crushing points are all on the line. The monster truck teams are all attempting to secure their place at the Monster Truck Grand Naitonals inside the huge Idaho State University Dome in Pocatello, Idaho on April 5th.
Until then there is this weekend and look for the Monster Trucks to get some big air. First off we are building huge jumps for the monster trucks and we have Terry's Salvage bringing vans, cars, and maybe a bus or a UPS truck. We told him to find stuff to crush! Terry is a race fan and we loves bringing us the heavy iron so look for stuff that is big and tall which makes the trucks fly high in the air.
When talking about huge air we have to mention the Freestyle MX Jumpers. These riders are over the edge. Huge tricks while being 30 to 40 feet in the air and who knows what one of them might attempt. The FMX riders are a young dare devil type and they are ready to rock Casper!
Motocross riders and spectators are in for a treat. It is not motocross and it's not flat track but a mixture between the two type races with jumps and more jumps plus fast corner speed action means a whole lot of handlebars will be banging as these riders compete for money and trophies.
HOG pit party passes are still available at Casper Harley and they have a huge Monster Party and sale on Friday evening so come meet the monster truck drivers and have some free food and maybe you will win some freestuff!
The Bumble Bee monster ride truck will be part of the event and it is a blast. Spectators ride in racing seats all belted in just like a real monster truck driver. Ride tickets will be on sale at the load zone inside the Events Center. Tickets are going fast so don't be left out. Check out www.CheckeredFlagProductions.com for more information, and Casper get ready because the Bad Boys are in town this week! (02/04/08)
