Creten Wins Racing, Basl & Wood Tie for Freestyle In Monterrey!!:  The Monster Trucks Showdown made its first appearance in Monterrey Saturday night and it was another action-packed event south of the border!!  Jimmy Creten looked to continue his domination of the Pro 3 Entertainment series, and started the evening off strong marching his way to the racing victory over David Smith in King Krunch.

Freestyle would see strong efforts from all of the teams in attendance. Kristy Edge in Jurassic Attack had a solid run going when the rear tires got tripped up over one of the bus stacks causing the truck to endo. Teammate Don Frankish had similar tough luck in Maniac, losing a rear tire during his run. Gary Schott Jr. had a strong run in Natural High, but it was Daron Basl in El Matador and Rod Wood in McGruff atop the leader board with only Creten left to run. Creten began his all-out assault on the freestyle course, with big moves and tons of momentum. But a crossthread move over the bus stack saw Bounty Hunter get tripped up and roll onto the roof only a minute into his run. It wouldn't be enough and Daron Basl and Rod Wood would be the co-winners of freestyle in Monterrey.
The evening was another impressive effort from Pro 3 Entertainment, and you'll see coverage right here on The Monster Blog in the coming weeks, courtesy of Staff Member Lauren Z. Bonar. Stay tuned and check out www.MonsterTrucksShowdown.com for more information!!  (11/30/08)

"The Boss" Talks About Sony Playstation 3 World Finals Victory!!:  (Ogden, UT) Kreg Christensen was in Australia for the last three weeks building up and tuning the trucks to get ready for the big Sony Playstation 3 Monster Truck World Finals event being put on by Clive Featherby's KC's Fireworks. Saturday night's big event took an unfortunate turn after Kreg drove his Scooby Doo machine into the ground, blowing the motor after being the fast qualifier and winning the first two races in which he drove. After that he would sit on the sidelines and watch Dan Patrick take the Sony Playstation 3 Motorstorm truck through the field, claiming the 2008 Racing Championship. It wouldn't be the end of the night for Kreg however, as those who know Dan Patrick know he is a racing purist throwback, and he approached his brother in arms from the states and said, "Kreg, freestyle this thing!"  So Kreg obliged and ended up driving the Motorstorm truck to the 2008 Freestyle Championship.

Kreg wanted to say to all of his fans and monster truck supporters here in the states that Clive and his family are first-class. The treatment Kreg and the other drivers got was second to none, and Kreg said to remind everyone that Clive is a pioneer over there, and he is doing the best he can with what he has on hand. There should be no doubt that with the continued efforts of Clive Featherby and his team, monster trucks will one day be as big down under as they are here in the U.S.  As Kreg put it, "Monsters are brand new down here, and Clive has those trucks doing 20-30 displays a week." Kreg was impressed with Clive's dedication to the industry and proud to be a part of the entire experience.
Kreg is back in the states today and has to turn around and head to Chicago this week to get Max-ed out for Feld. Kreg wants to thank all of his fans that have followed him literaly around the globe, and he is now 100% focused on carrying the flag for Tom Meents and Maximum Destruction in 2009. For more information on Kreg Christensen, be sure to check out his site at www.TeamKCM.net!!  (11/17/08)

Patrick, Christensen Crowned Champions In Australian World Finals!!:  The stage was set Saturday night in Brisbane for Australia's biggest monster truck event ever...the South Pacific Sony Playstation 3 Monster Truck World Finals at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Ten drivers would compete for the racing and freestyle titles, with four U.S. drivers brought in take on Australia's best, including Kreg Christensen driving Scooby Doo, Dan Patrick piloting the Sony Playstation 3 Motorstorm truck, James Tigue II driving Batman and Paul Shafer behind the wheel of Monster Patrol. The racing battle would be held on a J-hook syle course and it was Kreg Christensen taking the top spot in qualifying followed closely by Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda. Dan Patrick, James Tigue II and Paul Shafer would round out the top 5.

The semi-finals would come down to two U.S. drivers and two Australian drivers, as James Tigue II in Batman would face off against Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda, while Dan Patrick in Motorstorm would be up against Billy Luther in the Aussie Predator. Christensen's evening came to an early end after Scooby Doo's engine expired during his first round win. Tigue would be unable to make the call for the semi-finals as Batman would not fire, giving Featherby a bye in the finals. In a close race, Billy Luther put forth an impressive showing against the veteran Dan Patrick, but Patrick would prevail taking Motorstorm into the finals. It would be one of the USA's most veteran drivers versus Australia's most veteran driver for the racing championship, and it was a wild race. Coming out of the J-turn neck and neck, Featherby slid out and right into Patrick's Motorstorm, making contact and forcing him to back up allowing Patrick to power over the cars for the victory. Dan Patrick was crowned the 2008 Australian Monster Truck World Finals Racing champion, the second championship title in his storied career.
Next up would be freestyle, and with tons of obstacles to destroy, it was sure to be wild. Aussie drivers Sherri Shafer and Jaye Featherby started the competition with solid efforts, but it was Billy Luther who kicked freestyle into high gear with a strong run in Aussie Predator. With some nice jumps and plenty of momentum, Luther was putting forth a strong run when he came over the cars crooked, hitting one of the larger stacks with the front tire upon landing, sending the truck up and over onto its roof, tearing off the wheel in the process. The fans went wild and awarded Luther the current high score of 24.
The strong runs kept coming as Billy Featherby in Outback Thunda 2, James Tigue II in Batman and Paul Shafer in Monster Patrol took to the course, but each would fall just short of Luther's 24. Next up however would be Kreg Christensen returning to the competition in the Sony Playstation 3 Motorstorm truck, after Dan Patrick graciously stepped aside for the hard charging Christensen. Christensen proceeded to show the Australian fans why he is considered one of the USA's top freestyle drivers with a great freestyle featuring big air, tons of momentum, a huge reverser, and a demolished RV camper. The performance would vault Christensen into the lead with a score of 27 and only Clive Featherby and Outback Thunda left to run.
Featherby roared onto the track and wasted no time, going straight for the RV camper and blasting through it. The big move came at a price however, as the front axle broke leaving Outback Thunda with only rear wheel drive. Featherby continued to push the wounded truck, hitting obstacle after obstacle until the truck simply wouldn't go anymore. The Aussie fans saluted their top national driver's efforts, but it would only be good enough for score of 24 and a tie for second place, making Kreg Christensen the 2008 Australian Monster Truck World Finals Freestyle champion. The title would be the second of Christensen's career also.
It was a history making night in Brisbane as Australia's biggest monster truck event ever was a smashing success. In a close battle, the U.S. drivers prevailed despite the best efforts of Australia's Clive Featherby, taking runner-up in each competition. Both Patrick and Christensen added another championship to their already impressive resumes. The real winners of the night were the Australian fans however, as they got the chance to see their countrymen hold their own against some of the USA's best drivers in a great event.
A big thanks to Clive Featherby and the KC's Fireworks staff for providing the results from the event, and be sure to check out www.KCsFireworks.com for more coverage from the event and further information on the Australian Monsters Tour of Destruction. Obsession Racing Press Release!!:  (Menifee, CA - By Jill Swanson) The last four weeks have been jam-packed for Obsession Racing. It started off with Rick and I flying back to North Carolina for me to experience some driving time behind the wheel of a monster truck. Rick and I spent three days with Feld Entertainment’s North Carolina shop. The truck they had for me to test drive was Chuckie’s (Charlie Pauken’s) Grave Digger. This was an experience of a life time for me. Rick also enjoyed the time at their shop to learn different strategies and techniques on the trucks. We would like to give a huge thanks to all of the Feld Entertainments employees for all their hospitality and generosity.

The day we flew home from North Carolina we jumped from airplane to hauler to our next event in Rancho Santa Margareta, California for a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser to support our troops display. The day started out with ten guys that came over to Rick and Eric and wanted to know if they could help tire up, just so that they could say when they got to Iraq that they got to have the experience putting big tires on a monster truck. It was great to see all of the people in attendance there to support our soldiers. We need to keep them in our thoughts in prayers until they all come home. We would like to thank Monika at Cruzin for Wishes for all she does in coordinating this event.
On November 1st, we were in Houston, Texas at the Motorsports Park for the first annual Ronald McDonald's House charity monster truck shootout event. This event turned out to be a huge success. It even broke the track record for attendance. The success of this event has already started the negotiations to make it an annual event. The track was one of the most unique and longest that Rick has ever raced. Rick set fastest qualifying time and proceeded to win his way to the finals. During the final round Rick had some transmission problems and had to settle for second place against Daron Basl in the Fiesta King Krunch. We would like to thank David Smith for being the event coordinator and putting on such a successful event. We are looking forward to this event again next year. A big thanks goes out to John from Easy Router for providing pictures of the event and to Jeff Jones for all of the help with driving and truck maintenance for the event.
