Joe Sylvester Motorsports Update!!: (Boardman, OH) We have been very busy back home here in the little town of Boardman, Ohio. 16 hour days have been the normal for me and my crew the past month while we have been working on the new chassis. Leo over at TNT Monster Trucks has also been putting in a lot of hours on my new shocks for BAD HABIT. The shocks are a result of a ton of hours and research by both Leo and myself. We will still be running the King 18" travel coil overs in the front of the truck with the triple bypass shocks and no sway bar. For the new year, we will also be running a no-sway-bar setup in the rear of the truck but with the brand new 26" travel TNT coil overs along with reverse accumulator style nitro shocks.
The new chassis is now
complete and powdercoated and will be assembled this upcoming week inside
the Joe Sylvester Motorsports shop. It is basically a copy of the old
chassis with a few modifications to shock mounts to allow for more
stability and wheel articulation as well as a reinforced cradle, and
better weight distribution from front to back. BAD HABIT 002 will also
sport a new set of .250 wall chromoly 4-link bars courtesy of MAD Machine
and Design. My sponsor, Boardman Steel, supplied the materials, the proper
fabrication equipment, and a lot of added labor to make the new chassis a
reality. The design was done by Jerry Richmond and myself and we are very

Meents, Koehler Kick Off Monster Jam Season With Minny Wins!!: The new Monster Jam season is officially underway after another wild night at the Metrodome in Minneapolis Saturday night!! Tom Meents prevailed as the racing winner in the stellar ten truck field, driving to the final round victory over 2008 Racing Champion John Seasock in Batman. Meents was looking to sweep the event in freestyle, but "Mr. Excitement" Jim Koehler had other plans. In one of the best freestyles of 2008, Koehler laid down what has to be close to the perfect freestyle run. Huge air, amazing cyclones, huge slap wheelies, everything you could ask for, all in one run--and best of all, Koehler did it all without wrecking the truck. Despite the best efforts of Meents and Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger, Koehler prevailed serving notice that Avenger Racing is ready to rock'n'roll in 2009.
The Minneapolis event was a great start to the '08-'09 Monster Jam season, and it is Tom Meents and Maximum Destruction who sit atop our unoffical "Road to the World Finals" point standings after the first weekend of competition. That's right, the "Road to the World Finals" is back, so check out that section to see the current standings and learn more about our Monster Jam ranking system. Keep watching this season to see earns the right to be part of the 2009 Monster Jam World Finals lineup based on their season-long performance!! (12/08/08) Straight Up Racing Toys for Tots Event a Huge Success!!: Sunday was game day at Quest Field in Seattle, WA and the Straight Up Racing teamed up with the U.S. Marines to collect toys and cash donations for Toys for Tots!! In total over 2,000 toys and an amazing $17,280 dollars was donated at the game!! Team owner Bill Payne said, "All I can say is WOW. Days like today show that people still care, and we couldn't be happier to have had a small part in seeing that needy children get something for Christmas this year."
This Friday the team will be set up at the Wal-Mart in Renton, WA in conjunction with KIRO Channel 4 News with the goal of filling a whole semi-trailer with toy donations!! Anyone who lives in the area is encouraged to come out and donate!!

(12/08/08) 2008 MTRA Awards Banquet Recap!!: The 2008 MTRA Awards Banquet was held last night at the Sheraton Wesport Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO and it was the Big Dawg 4x4 team walking away with lots of hardware!! The night's big prize, Driver of the Year, resulted in a vote so close, it ended in a tie between Tail Gator driver Doug Noelke and Bigfoot driver Dan Runte. The Big Dawg 4x4 team also took home Truck of the Year for Tail Gator and the Most Improved Team award. Noelke was recognized as the MTRA Jr. Associate Members' choice for Driver of the Year, while crew member Ray "Pops" Novel was the Co-Sportsman of the Year. George Eisenhart's Image Promotions was named the MTRA's Promoter of the Year, while Eisenhart was also given the Safety Award for his efforts in reforming the MTRA this year. New Bigfoot driver Jerry Dalton was named Rookie of the Year after a season that saw him win over half the races he competed in, while Tim Hall took home the Mechanic of the Year award once again. Jeff & Jocelyn Perrin accepted Co-Sportsman of the Year on behalf of their Perrin Motorsports team. As the final presentation of the evening, the MTRA recognized the accomplishments of Bob Chandler in all his years of service to the organization he helped create, with the MTRA's Award of Appreciation.

Award Banquet was once again a great celebration of the MTRA members'
accomplishments in 2008. Kyle Doyle did an excellent job in his first year
as banquet emcee, while the evening's presentations were greatly enhanced
with an outstanding awards video presentation and MTRA highlight video by
Colby Marshall. The evening also featured a fitting tribute to those in
the sport who passed on in 2008, including former Bigfoot driver Dave
Harkey.
