Truk Wurks Off Road Welcomes Hooker Harness!!: (Indianapolis, IN) Truk Wurks Off Road, home of the Bar’s Leaks Eliminator and Rislone Defender monster trucks would like to proudly welcome Hooker Harness to our roster of fine associate sponsors!

Since their inception in the 1970’s, Hooker Harness has gone on to become the most respected and well-known producer of aerobatic harnesses. Their knowledge of and background in aviation harnesses has provided them with a solid foundation for their increasing presence in the auto racing industry. Their deep commitment to the high-flying world of monster truck racing is readily apparent, and we here at Truk Wurks are proud to be using their products on board our trucks!

“In my 20 years of monster truck racing, I’ve used my fair share of belts and harnesses,” said Truk Wurks general manager and lead driver Greg Adams. “Over the years, we’ve upgraded our seats, our shocks, and our driving gear. But it seems like our racing harnesses just haven’t changed much. That’s why I was so excited when we began working with the great folks at Hooker Harness."
“The Hooker Harness setup came strongly recommended by the 2Xtreme monster truck team (Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw) so once we started looking into it, I knew it would live up to the talk we had heard,” said Truk Wurks team manager Kyle Doyle. “We worked closely with the folks at Hooker to develop the right setup for our trucks and seats; their attention to detail was flawless. They definitely aren’t an ‘off-the-shelf’ kind of company.”
Technological improvements in monster truck suspensions and driving gear have allowed drivers to push their vehicles harder and farther than ever imagined. Products like those manufactured by Hooker Harness will not only help this progress along, but keep it as safe as possible at the same time. “We don’t take chances when it comes to safety,” stated Greg Adams. “That’s why we are very proud to be working with Hooker Harness, because they don’t take safety for granted either.”
For more information on Hooker Harness, including information on their aviation and racing products, as well as up to date news, be sure to visit them online at www.HookerHarness.com!!  (03/25/09)

Jonesboro, AR AMP Monster Truck Thunder Slam Recap!!:  The AMP Live Events Monster Truck Thunder Slam returned to the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro, AR for one night of monster truck action in front of a packed house of monster fans!!  Bounty Hunter, Predator, Monster Patrol, Prowler and Undertaker would be competing in wheelie, racing and freestyle, with things getting started with a bang. David Brown was the first driver out in the wheelie contest, and a nice wheelie saw Monster Patrol fall to one side and despite Brown's best efforts, the truck would end on its lid.

After solid efforts from Shane Phreed in Undertaker and Lenny Kuilder in Prowler, Allen Pezo rolled to the track in Predator. Pezo nailed the car stack and stood Predator straight up and down in a great wheelie, but the truck landed crooked on the cars sending it right over with a vicious cage hit on the concrete.

Allen popped out of the truck to the thunderous applause of the Arkansas fans, and promised to make his second hit in the wheelie contest if the truck checked out ok. The truck was rolled over, check out and cleared, and Allen proceeded to stand the truck up straight up and down once more to the delight of the fans. Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter followed with a decent wheelie, but there was little doubt as to who the winner was and Pezo picked up the first victory of the night.
The racing competition would be held on a Chicago-style layout, which is always interesting at a concrete event. Darren Migues marched through to the finals and despite the best efforts of Lenny Kuilder in Prowler, Bounty Hunter would emerge the racing winner.

Freestyle would start with a strong effort from David Brown in Monster Patrol, as Brown stood the truck up and down several times before finishing with a nice donut.

Lenny Kuilder in Prowler put forth a nice run while Allen Pezo in Predator struggled after breaking a steering belt early in his run. Much like racing however, freestyle would be all Bounty Hunter as Darren Migues roared around the track, keeping up tons of momentum and catching nice air clearing the car stacks, as well as throwing in a couple donuts. In the crowd cheeroff, the choice was clear and Bounty Hunter would pick up the freestyle win.

A big thanks to Ron Woodbridge and Scott Hart with AMP Live Events for their hospitality, and to "Roller" Jeff Richards, host of Motorsports Live Radio, who was announcing Saturday night. Also a thanks to all drivers and teams for their efforts. Stay tuned for a full photo gallery from Ross Z. Bonar and another killer highlight video from Colby Marshall, but in the meantime check out some of the major moments from the show below, footage courtesy of Rajeana Bonar!! (03/15/09)

Gerding, Adams, Jones Post Wins In Sedalia Saturday!!:  Night two of the Sedalia Monster Truck Racing Super Series event is in the books and it was a night of close competition among the five truck field. Home-state favorite Dale Gerding in Big Dawg once again started the night off strong, taking first the timed run competition and then the wheelie contest victory.

Gerding was back in the finals of straight line racing as well, but this time it would be Andy Hoffman in Nitemare just edging out Big Dawg for the win.

Chicago-style racing would be very competitive with Greg Adams and the Bar's Leaks Eliminator taking the final round win over Devin Jones in Barbarian.

Freestyle would again close out the night with Devin Jones leading off the competition with a great run. Devin lifted Barbarian into not one, but two slap wheelies off the van stack and finished his run with a nice donut.

Jerry Perry in Crash Master continued to impress, laying down a freestyle that featured two huge sky wheelies, a reverser over the van stack and a nice save as the truck got out of shape coming off the cars.

Andy Hoffman turned in another solid run in Nitemare that featured, like Friday night, a big reverse move. This time however, Andy was able to bring Nitemare back down safely to finish his run to the delight of the Sedalia fans.

The crowd would have to go to two cheer-offs between Jerry Perry and Crash Master and Devin Jones in Barbarian, with Barbarian getting the win by a narrow margin. That's all from Sedalia, lots of photos and video coming from the weekend's events, stay tuned. Thanks to Monster Events for their hospitality and to all the teams and drivers for their efforts. (03/08/09)

Big Dawg & Nitemare Steal Show Night One In Sedalia!!:  The Monster Truck Racing Super Series made its first appearance at Sedalia, MO's Matthewson Exhibition Center Friday night, and it was an event jam-packed with action. Dale Gerding in Big Dawg came in as the heavy home-state favorite and didn't disapoint the Missouri fans, taking the timed runs event to start the show. The wheelie contest would see strong efforts from Jerry Perry in Crashmaster and Andy Hoffman in Nitemare, but a solid effort from Gerding would be enough to get the crowd to vote Big Dawg for the win.

Straight line racing would see Gerding march to the final round where he would meet Greg Adams in the sharp looking Bar's Leaks Eliminator. Gerding got a huge jump on the flag and never looked back, making Big Dawg 3 for 3 on the night.

Next up would be the Chicago-style racing competition, and it was clear the field was starting to catch up to Gerding and Big Dawg. Nevertheless, Gerding managed to make his way to the finals against Devin Jones in Barbarian. The race was close after the second pass, but the Big Dawg streak would be broken as Jones managed to edge out Gerding for his first racing win of the 2009 season.

The fifth and final event of the evening would be monster truck freestyle. Devin Jones led off the competition in Barbarian and he set the bar extremely high for the competition. Huge sky wheelies and, unbelievably, a slap wheelie off the van stack inside the tiny arena would be tough to beat.

Jerry Perry in Crashmaster put forth an impressive run including a big sky wheelie on the van stack, but it wouldn't be enough to knock off Jones.

Andy Hoffman rolled to the track in Nitemare knowing he would have to go big to beat Jones. After a solid freestyle, Hoffman lined up for his signature reverse move. Andy laid into the gas and nailed the cars, catching huge air in reverse.

But the momentum of the truck spiked the rear end directly into the ground upon landing, nearly rolling the truck over backwards and causing huge damage to the rear end. The effort would be enough to take the freestyle victory, but Andy has a lot of work to do to get ready for the Saturday night event.

That's all from night one in Sedalia, keep an eye out for lots of photos from the weekend, as well as a highlight video from Colby Marshall. We'll be back for the Saturday night event, if you're coming out, be sure to stop us and say hello!!  In the meantime, check out video of Andy Hoffman's freestyle below courtesy of Rajeana Bonar. Jim & Chris Allen's Phoenix Monster Jam Experience!!:  Our good friends Jim and Chris Allen headed out to Chase Field Saturday, January 24th for the annual Monster Jam event, and they were kind enough to send us over some coverage of the event. Check out Chris' blog entry and Jim's great photos below:
     "
Phoenix, Arizona is known for lots of sun and warm weather but there was some additional heat in the air when ten of the biggest names in Monster Jam rolled into Chase Field. The Phoenix lineup included a mixture of Chase Field veterans like Jimmy Creten and Bounty Hunter, Rod Wood and McGruff and Pablo Huffaker behind the wheel of Grave Digger, as well as newer members of the Monster Jam Tour. Some of the latter included Joe Sylvester and the brand new Bad Habit in only its 4th show and a surprise truck in the form of the brand new Backwards Bob, driven by grizzled veteran Mike Wine of Jersey Outlaw fame. The truck is interesting to watch because it seems to be always going the wrong way!  After qualifying drawing just before racing began, Jimmy Creten was handed the flag as an official qualifier of the Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals.

The fastest qualifying time was set after the first pair and everyone else chased that time. Grave Digger set the standard on the St. Louis style track with a time of 17.16 seconds. The next four pairs came out to beat it, but to no avail. Bounty Hunter was the final qualifier and was a close second with a time of 17.28 to establish the bracket for the racing competition. The opening round of racing eliminations saw Grave Digger chain down the Pit Bull and Charles Benns. Tony Farrell and Blue Thunder beat Aaron Basl and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle truck. The third pair was Paul Strong and Martial Law against Joe Miller and Iron Outlaw. Outlaw won the race, but lost control after the finish line diving into the other lane, straight into Martial Law taking out the front steering of the Minnesota-based Ford and ending his night. The next two pairs ended with Mike Wine and Backwards Bob taking a bite out of McGruff and Bounty Hunter sending Bad Habit to the trailer.
Rod and McGruff were able to stay in the grid as the fastest loser only to be downed again, this time by Grave Digger. In Iron Outlaw’s next race against Blue Thunder, Joe Miller was able to keep it straight this time. The second Round ended with Bounty Hunter defeating Backwards Bob after Wine spun out in the final turn.
The semi-finals saw the upset of the night as fast loser Blue Thunder took out Grave Digger in the first semi and Bounty Hunter captured Iron Outlaw in the second one. With the final round came tension. Blue Thunder had rear-steering problems with Bounty Hunter on the way to the Advance Auto Parts Starting Line. It looked like Pablo Huffaker was back in the finals when ROAR!! Tony Farrell had made it! Still, it wasn’t enough to overcome the horsepower of the Bounty Hunter, who took the racing win.
The new freestyle rules gave each competitor up to 30 points for the first 90 seconds of freestyle and up to five bonus points for the next 30 seconds of bonus time for a possible total of 35 points for a perfect score. Freestyle started with a bang as Mike Wine and the world’s first all backwards monster truck set the bar really high with a score of 26 out of a possible 35. However, about two freestyles later, Joe Miller and Iron Outlaw raised the bar even more with a score of 30. Next was Rod Wood and McGruff, who rolled over after getting crossed up after hitting an van stack wrong. One of the next few trucks was Bad Habit, made two jumps only to break off his right front wheel, sending him end over end and landing on his lid. Then it was time for the big three. Miller was topped by his own boss, who had turned in a score of 33. The final two, Tony Farrell and Pablo Huffaker tried to out score Creten, but just couldn’t. It was a wild night in the valley of the sun, and Jimmy Creten collected his first double down win of the year." (03/01/09)
