Migues Takes Overall Win Night One In Farmington, NM!!:  The Del Taco Monster Truck Spectacular is back at Farmington, New Mexico's McGee Park Memorial Coliseum last night and it was Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter taking the overall victory with some high-flying freestyle!!  Migues took the opening round of the night, but it was Ronnie Sturges in Nasty Boy making some noise in round two as he narrowly edged out Migues after a run with several huge slap wheelies. Sam Sturges also had a great run in round two, almost going over in Unnamed & Untamed after a big sky wheelie over the cars. The finals would be all Bounty Hunter despite great efforts from Unnamed and Nasty Boy, as well as Joe Miller in Iron Outlaw and Travis Sturges in 1/2 Pint. The monsters are back in action tonight along with tough trucks and quads, so come on out and celebrate Halloween with monster trucks at the McGee Memorial Coliseum in Farmington, NM!!  (10/31/09)

Creten Sweeps Montreal, Quick Nails Backflip!!:  The 2009 Monster Spectacular at Olympic Stadium is in the books and wouldn't you know it, Jimmy Creten sweeps again!!  It was an incredible event tonight in Montreal as twelve trucks competed in racing and freestyle and Larry Quick attempted to perform the first ever backflip in Canada. Racing would be all 2Xtreme Racing as Joe Miller in Iron Outlaw and Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter marched through the brackets on their way to the finals. In the championship race, Creten would just be too strong despite a valiant effort from Miller as he picked up the huge racing victory.

After racing was completed, Larry Quick rolled out in Ghost Ryder to attempt the monster truck backflip, hoping to be the first to complete one in Canada. Larry nailed the attempt and landed it perfectly on all fours as the crowd of over 45,000 went crazy!!

Freestyle would see great runs from Rick Long in Bigfoot, Joe Miller in Iron Outlaw, and Dan Patrick in Samson, but the battle for the win would be between just two trucks. Breakage claimed heavy hitters like Amsoil Shock Therapy, Avenger and Brutus. Rich Hilgendorf in Weapon 1 put on an amazing freestyle as, after blowing a tire on the second hit, he continued on, launching over the biggest stuff on the floor before a nasty rollover ended his run with seconds left on the clock. It would take an extraordinary effort to beat him but one driver was up to the task.

That driver would none other than the racing winner Jimmy Creten. Creten piloted Bounty Hunter like the pro that he is, getting huge air off everything and keeping up tons of momentum. As time expired, Creten cross-threaded the huge delivery van stack and got hung up, flipping the truck over on its side to end his run. As the crowd erupted in thunderous applaus for Bounty Hunter, there was little doubt that Creten had pulled it off, sweeping Montreal.

TMB sends out a huge thanks to Chris Arel and all of his staff for inviting us up to cover our first event in Canada and for all their hospitality on our trip. Also a big thanks to Team Scream crew member Stephanie Cotnoir for taking Ross Bonar's camera and deliverying the amazing shots you see above and many more. It will also be one of the best lineups to ever compete in Montreal, with Bigfoot, Bounty Hunter, Avenger, Amsoil Shock Therapy, Samson, Brutus, Excaliber, Weapon One, Wrecking Crew, Aftershock, Native Warrior and the aforementioned Ghost Ryder.

Jimmy Creten, Bounty Hunter Sweep In St. Louis!!:  The first Monster Truck Spectacular Fall Nationals Presented By Midwest 4-Wheel Drive was held Saturday night at the brand new Chaifetz Arena in downtown St. Louis and it was Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter sweeping the evening's competitions!!  With four of the top trucks in the nation competing in wheelie, racing and freestyle contests, the night was sure to be one to remember. Dan Runte in Summit Bigfoot was charged with the task of bringing home a win for the hometown crowd, but to do so he would have to stop Creten, the winningest driver in monster trucks in 2009, and the cagey veteran Allen Pezo in Predator. The wheelie contest kicked off the evening and despite one great wheelie from Runte, Creten managed to take the win after planting the tailgate in the cars not once, but twice.

With the opening round going to Bounty Hunter, the Bigfoot team was sure to do everything they could to bring home the racing win for the hometown fans. Wouldn't you know it, the finals came down to Bigfoot and Bounty Hunter. In an incredibly close race, Bounty Hunter edged Bigfoot at the finish line by just over half a tire's length making Creten two for two on the night.

Only freestyle would be left for Team Bigfoot to bring home a win for the local fans. After a solid run from Lenny Kuilder in Prowler, Allen Pezo roared to the floor in Predator and put on a great show for the St. Louis fans. Big momentum and one incredible cyclone set the bar high for Bigfoot and Bounty Hunter.

Pezo's freestyle was a tough act to follow and despite a solid effort, Dan Runte and Summit Bigfoot came up just a bit short of the high bar set by Pezo. The St. Louis fans gave a great ovation for their hometown hero and his efforts for the evening.

Jimmy Creten won the right to be the final truck out in freestyle after picking up the racing win and he wasted no time going big in the small Chaifetz Arena. Big wheelies, donuts, great momentum and big air filled Creten's run, but it was going to be a close cheeroff between him and Predator. The crowd was definitely behind Bounty Hunter in the cheeroff for the winner and he would pick up a sweep of the night, but give a call to Allen Pezo for a great run as the call easily could have gone either way.

That concluded a great night of action at the Fall Nationals Monster Truck Spectacular at the beautiful new Chaifetz Arena. It was great to see Team Bigfoot back in competition in downtown St. Louis and a big thanks to Steve Quercio, Ron Woodbridge and all the folks with the Chaifetz Arena for making it happen. Congratulations go out to Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter for taking out the hometown favorite and sweeping the entire evening. A few more folks we would like to acknowledge: Shawn Conners for a great one-man FMX show; Josh Rhodes, Chris Kaelin and Ed Hoorman for a high flying R/C monster truck demonstration; our own Colby Marshall and Kaedon Berry for their great work in track construction and detailing; and everyone with the Land of the Giants truck club for their help in making the event possible. Lots of coverage coming from this one, with great footage from Colby and Kaedon along with some excellent photography from Rajeana Bonar. Stay tuned!!  (10/18/09)

Darren Migues, Jon Zimmer 2009 West Coast Nationals Champs!!:  The 2009 edition of the MLMT West Coast Monster Truck Nationals at the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff, CA is in the books!!  TMB guest contributors Jim and Chris Allen were on hand for the three days of incredible action with twelve top trucks going head-to-head in racing and freestyle competition. All the fun started Friday night as Jon Zimmer in Amsoil Shock Therapy would meet Dan Runte in Snake Bite in the racing finals, with Zimmer taking the big first win of the weekend. Zimmer would go on to have a great freestyle that would end up tieing strong runs from Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter and Gary Schott Jr. in Jurassic Attack at the end of the competition. In a great upset victory, Gary Schott Jr. was named the official winner by MLMT officials.

Saturday night would feature more great competition, but it would be all Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter as he topped the competition in both racing and freestyle.
Sunday would be the drivers' last chance to make their case for the weekend racing and freestyle titles and wouldn't you know it, the racing finals came down to the two previous winners, Jon Zimmer and Darren Migues. Migues drove Bounty Hunter to the big win to clinch the 2009 West Coast Nationals Racing title.

With Jurassic Attack on the sidelines with motor problems for freestyle, Bounty Hunter looked to be the odds on favorite to get the overall freestyle title for the weekend. After a great freestyle run, that looked even more likely. But Jon Zimmer put on an amazing run in Amsoil Shock Therapy that saw the truck lose a rear wheel to end his performance. That would give Zimmer the day's freestyle win and in a tough decision for MLMT officials, Zimmer also got the nod for the 2009 West Coast Nationals Freestyle title.

A big thanks to Jim and Chris Allen for covering the event for the blog, stay tuned for their full coverage from the event featuring a detailed write-up and tons of great photos coming later this week!  Another thanks to Chuck Plumlee and everyone with the MLMT for their hospitality this weekend and to all the drivers and teams for their efforts.
