Introducing Our "Road to the World Finals" Monster Jam Ranking System!!:  What if Monster Jam ran a public national points series that we could all follow each week to find out who the series' top contenders are as the World Finals approaches each year? We think that would be great fun for all us diehard monster truck fans across the country, so we have decided to run a simple, yet all-inclusive ranking system (read: UNOFFICIAL) for the Monster Jam series, based on the actual results provided by, that will help recognize driver performance in both racing and freestyle throughout the course of the season.

Now we're sure that you have many questions about how we will do this: How does it work? Which events are we including? How are the points awarded? etc. In our new section for the "Road to the World Finals" ranking system, we have a detailed rationale and explanation that should answer most of these questions. However, in the section we are also doing a Q&A with you, the fans, so we can answer your questions and explain to you why we made some of the decisions that we made.
We are a little behind in getting this started as the season is a month old now, but we do have all the results from every USHRA event held thus far, and our rankings are updated to include all of those events. Tom Meents and Neil Elliott are leading the way thus far in their Maximum Destruction trucks with Adam Anderson and Jimmy Creten right behind, check out the new section by clicking below for full standings and results!!
Just keep in mind that this is just for fun, so let's enjoy it!!  Send your questions in or post them on the Fan Forum and we will get them answered for you. Thanks & Enjoy!!

See below for a great shot of Neil Elliott in Max D taking out a motor home. Also pictured is Air Force driver Damon Bradshaw bailing out of his truck after it caught fire when a soft rollover in freestyle allowed hot oil to get onto the headers. WMTRL Announcer - Week Three Recap!!: ( The reports came in bunches this week!! We are now up to 115 events reported out of 144, which is nearly 80%. Wins also came in bunches, as two drivers picked up 3 wins on the weekend. Michael Vaters took on Gary Porter in all 4 finals in Kansas City, and won the final 3. Vaters has 5 wins in 9 races and is ranked 4th in the world. Further west in Reno, David Smith and Dan Rodoni had a similar battle, with Rodoni winning Friday, and Smith taking the final three, ending the weekend with a wild crash across the finish line. Unfortunately, we still need the semi-finalists from the final 3 events in Reno, so those wins are not currently counted.

World Monster Nationals a Huge Success!!:  The Australian Monsters Tour of Destruction held the World Monster Nationals, their biggest event of the year Saturday night, and it was Clive Featherby in Outback Thunder taking the championship, just edging out his young son Billy in Captain Crusher!!  The event was the first to completely sell out the Ekka Showgrounds in Brisbane, Queensland in over twenty years, and received a great response from the several media outlets that were on hand to cover the event. Last night also saw the debut of the two newest chassis in the KC's Fireworks stable, purchased from the U.S. and arriving just in time for the show. The trucks carried the famous names Bearfoot and Monster Patrol, and the Bearfoot truck and driver Sherri Shaffer experienced a wild rollover making for a memorable debut. Certainly one of the most exciting parts of the night was the debut of the much anticipated Batman monster truck, which received a roar of approval from the crowd when it was introduced for the first time. In addition to the monster trucks, there were numerous other stunt acts and entertainment, including the largest fireworks display ever held in an Australian stadium, with over 9,000 aerial shells lighting up the arena in just under 12 minutes!!  All in all the show was a big success, and we thank Clive Featherby for the update. Congrats to Clive also on the big win!!  Head on over to for more information on the Australian Monsters Tour of Destruction!!  (01/21/07)

Detroit Monster Jam Photo Gallery!!:  The Monster Jam tour rolled into downtown Detroit this weekend for one of their biggest shows of the year at Ford Field Saturday night and our own Paul Harry was on hand for all the action!!  It was Tony Farrell bringing home the big racing win for Ford, driving Blue Thunder to the win over Pablo Huffaker when Grave Digger broke at the start of the final round race. Courtney Jolly put up the mark to beat in Pastrana 199 early, with a score of 29. The score would hold as heavy hitters such as T-Maxx and Digger fell short, but Tom Meents in Maximum Destruction was up to the task, winning with a perfect score of 30.

A huge thanks to Paul for his dedication, as he still made the trip to the show even after suffering a breakdown in his personal vehicle on the way to the show. Paul sends out a big thank you to his brother-in-law and father who came to the rescue, loaning their truck & trailer so Paul and his family could tow their vehicle to the show, and then back home. This is one dedicated family of monster truck fans and we are proud to be associated with them!!  Check out his great photos by clicking the link below and be sure to stop by the Fan Forum and let him know what you think!!  Thanks & Enjoy!! (01/21/07)

Rick Raab in American Guardian broke through with a big racing victory over John Seasock in Batman in the finals. Batman replaced Digger in the final round match-up after Digger had trouble starting, but it would be Randy Brown got it together and came back to take the freestyle win!! Check out some of Kyle's teasers below and be watching for more photos coming soon from both Toronto shows!! (01/21/07)

Around the USHRA - Monster Jam Saturday Night Update!!:  UPDATE 1: Our good friend and Fan Contributor Kyle Seden has just checked in after returning home from the Toronto Monster Jam at Rogers Centre. Randy Brown in Grave Digger took the racing victory over Lou Antonazzi in the Broker, while Deric Evans took home the biggest win of his career in freestyle, piloting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to the win. Check below for a few teasers from Kyle, and watch for more of his pics in the Fan Photo Gallery coming soon!! (01/20/07)

MAIN STORY: Several big shows going on around the country tonight, and here are some of tonight's big winners and stories. In Detroit at Ford Field, it was Tony Farrell in Blue Thunder bringing home the big win for Ford in racing after Pablo Huffaker's Grave Digger broke on the start. Freestyle would see young Pastrana 199 driver Courtney Jolly make a big statement, scoring a 29 early in the competition. The score would hold as several big names fell short including Carl Van Horn in the Traxxas T-Maxx (28), and Huffaker in Digger (26). But it was Tom Meents in Maximum Destruction coming out last and grabbing the freestyle win with a score of 20, his first FS win since Minneapolis in December.
Elsewhere in Tampa, the driver who had beaten Meents in freestyle the past two weeks continued his streak, winning his third major freestyle in a row--that driver being Adam Anderson, still filling in for his father in Grave Digger XX, and winning with a score 30. Father Dennis was in attendance and informed the crowd that he is expecting to return in two weeks, although that is subject to change. Racing would see Maximum Destruction in victory lane again, but this time it was Neil Elliott taking the win over Scott Hartsock in Gun Slinger.
In Minneapolis, the racing finals would come down to Chad Tingler in Grave Digger and Alex Blackwell in Bulldozer. Tingler would take the win in racing, but Blackwell would be another driver making his mark tonight, winning his first major stadium freestyle victory. Blackwell, with a score of 26, just edged out Mike Wine in Blue Thunder for the win, as Wine received a 25 from the judges. Another surprise was former Wild Hair owner/driver Jason Witte making a cameo appearance behind the wheel of Monster Mutt, as Wine was subbing for injured driver Norm Miller in Blue Thunder, leaving the Mutt seat open for Witte's return.
That's a quick glimpse at a few of tonight's bigger stadium shows and storylines, but stay tuned because pictures from each of the shows above will be coming your way soon. Staff member Paul M. Harry was in Detroit, Special Contributor Bryan Wagner was present in Tampa, and our good friend and Fan Contributor Josh Kirscher attended the Minny show--thanks to these guys for the reports. Watch for teasers and more coming soon!!  (01/20/07)

AMP-ing it up in New Mexico!!:  The AMP Tour Monster Truck Challenge came to Aztec, NM this weekend for two big shows and The Monster Blog was on hand for all of tonight's action. The show featured McGruff, Pit Bull, Sheer Insanity, TNT, and the AZ Dust Devil competing in racing and freestyle contests at McGee Memorial Coliseum. Murphy McCrorey piloted McGruff to the racing victory over Charles Benns in Pit Bull, but it was Benns coming back to share the freestyle win with Kathy Wills in TNT. Thanks to my parents Lauren & Lynette Bonar for driving up for the show, be watching for more coverage and video coming soon!!  Also, a thanks to AMP Live Events for a good show and for their hospitality. Check out the teasers below!!  (01/20/07)

Bearfoot Returns to the Metrodome!!:  For the first time in many years, the legendary Bearfoot monster truck will compete this Saturday night when Monster Jam comes to the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN. Brought in as a last-minute replacement for another truck, James Tigue II will be making the trip up to Minnesota to wheel Bearfoot against eleven other trucks Saturday night. Fans in Minneapolis will be treated to a very unique lineup at a Monster Jam stadium show, featuring many independent trucks. It should be a great show, and our good friend Josh Kirscher has already promised us pictures for the Fan Photo Gallery. Watch for those right here on The Monster Blog in the coming days, and best of luck to our good friend James as he takes on the competition in Minny! (01/19/07)

WMTRL Announcer - Week Two Recap!!: ( Team Grave Digger is back on top of the world standings, and it’s Pablo Huffaker with the lead. The veteran has won 4 of his 5 races, including a 106-point event in the Alamodome. Huffaker has not held the #1 spot since May 1st of last year. Huffaker’s only loss this season has been to Lee O’Donnel on Friday night in the Alamodome. O’Donnel is filling in for Adam Anderson (who is filling in for his father in Grave Digger) and has made the final round in 4 of his 5 events. O’Donnel has yet to win this season, though, and is currently ranked 8th in the world.

Paul Harry's Monster Weekend in Ohio!!:  Monster Blog Staff Member Paul M. Harry pulled off an impressive monster truck themed trip this past weekend, and we have the photo galleries now posted to prove it!!  Paul started off the weekend by heading to Dayton, OH Friday night where the Monster Truck Winter Nationals would be taking over the Hara Arena. Jason Grill in Public Disturbance knocked off Dave Harkey in Bigfoot for the Racing victory, while Harkey would then tie for the Freestyle win with Larry Quick's Monster Blog Reaper!!  Larry pulled off a great reverser over the van stack and then rolled the truck while doing a donut to get the perfect score of 30. Check out the photos by clicking the link below!!

Saturday morning it was off to Youngstown, OH for two shows at the Chevrolet Centre. Bennett Clark in Clydesdale would take the racing and wheelie contest wins at the early show, while Dale Benear in Raminator won the donut contest. Benear and Clark would continue their domination in the evening show, first tieing for the wheelie contest win before Raminator took control. Benear defeated Bad Habit in the racing finals, and managed to take another donut contest victory. Check out some of Paul's great photos by clicking the link below!!

Finally, Sunday morning it was off to Toledo, OH for the Extreme Monster Truck Nationals at the Seagate Center. Mitch Tulatchka in Get-Er-Done showed the competition he is to be taken seriously, winning both the wheelie and freestyle competitions, as well as earning a berth in the racing finals against Steve Hearley, who was sporting the new "Havoc" body on his truck. For some reason however, the racing finals were never run. Check out photos from the show by, you guessed it, clicking the link below!!

And thus ended a busy weekend for Paul and his family. Four shows in three cities, all in one weekend. And you thought you were a diehard monster truck fan!!  As if that wasn't enough, Paul and the family are off to Detroit, MI this coming weekend for Monster Jam at Ford Field. Thanks to Paul for all the hard work getting the pictures sent in, and we look forward to seeing some of his shots from Detroit this weekend!!  Stop by the Fan Forum and let Paul know what you thought of his pictures. Thanks & Enjoy!!  (01/18/07)

New KC's Fireworks Trucks Set To Debut!!:  This Saturday's upcoming World Monster Nationals is just a few days away and Mark Hurley of the Aussie (+Kiwi) Monster Truck Gallery was kind enough to send us a couple preview shots of the new Batman and Aussie Predator monster trucks!!  The new Batman body is still incomplete, as there are no windows and a lot of the final trimming is still to be attached. First WMTRL Announcer Article of '07!!: ( Busy has been the word here at WMTRL headquarters, as we’ve been recording results all weekend. We’re behind our early goals of percentage reported, but the numbers are a bit misleading at the moment. To date, we have 34 of 59 events fully recorded (57.6%), but of the 25 missing, 4 are awaiting driver identification and 6 may have just been exhibition. Once we’ve heard back from our contacts (some of whom are still on the road), we should be able to bring the numbers up.

Dawn Creten Returns to Competition!!: (Tonganoxie, KS) The last time fans saw Dawn Creten behind the wheel of Scarlet Bandit was March 19, 2005 at the Monster Jam World Finals. Taking 6th place in her first appearance, Dawn proved that she was a contender any time she tightened the safety belts. Following the biggest event of her career, Dawn stepped away from the sport. Jimmy and Dawn were expanding their family and that required Dawn to take some time out of the seat. “I saw all the success that the team had last year, of course I was ecstatic, but I wanted to keep contributing also” Dawn commented. Always a moral booster, Dawn kept her presence known, cheering on her husband Jimmy and teammate Linsey Weenk. In the heart of monster truck season 8lb 3oz Journey Jolie was born on Febuary 20th, 2006.
With more than a year off Dawn is eager to get back on the track. She will debut a brand new machine at Angel Stadium on Saturday night, equipped with the same lethal combination that her teammate’s truck carry. The team, led by crew chief Darren Migues will make stops in San Diego, Phoenix, Houston, St. Louis and Tucson in an attempt to qualify for another position at the sport’s biggest event. “I was so disappointed that I wasn’t able to run in Phoenix last year. I’ll be there at the end of January; it’s my event.” Dawn said, speaking about her consecutive victories at the Monster Jam at Chase Field in 2004 and 2005.

The 2007 Monster Jam season is going to be more competitive than ever before. New track designs, new trucks and new fans keep the sport moving forward. “I’ve taken time off once before.” Dawn explained. “And look what I accomplished after that. There is definitely a time and place for everything. I have 3 wonderful girls and but I can’t let Jimmy have the only championship in the family!”

Monster Nationals in Huntington, WV Photo Gallery!!:  The Monster Nationals American Thunder Tour kicked off the new season at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena in Huntington, WV, and our good friend Chad Dobbins was there for Friday night's action!!  While there are some different looks this year on the tour, the championship battle may be very similar to last year if Friday's show was any indication. The racing finals came down to Mark Hall in Raminator and Doug Noelke in Tail Gator and it was Hall taking the victory, as well as winning the donut contest. Andy Hoffman began his quest for another freestyle championship with a huge reverser in his new ride, the War Wagon, to take the freestyle win. Geremie Dishman in Rammunition will likely go down as the first roll-over of 2007, as Rammunition got crossed up in the wheelie contest, and rolled hard onto the concrete. Dishman was ok, and the truck made it back to participate in racing. Thanks to Chad Dobbins for sending in his photo gallery from the show, check it out by clicking the link below!!  (01/06/07)

Monsters of Destruction Not Renewed By The Outdoor Channel:  Recently questions have been swirling about the future of the Monsters of Destruction TV series, which has aired on The Outdoor Channel for the last two years. Wade Sherman, Senior Vice President of Programming for The Outdoor Channel and one of MOD’s on-air commentators since its inception, was kind enough to clarify the status of the series for We are sad to report that MOD is indeed not being renewed for a third season on The Outdoor Channel.
“As Senior Vice President of Programming, we valued our association with Monsters of Destruction,” said Sherman . “However, recently we have went through a leadership transition at The Outdoor Channel, and that particular project is inconsistent with our new goals going forward related to the motorsports arena.”
That is not to say however, that The Outdoor Channel will not pursue monster truck related programming in the future. Masters Entertainment’s World of Trucks will continue to be seen on TOC, featuring coverage from some of the Special Events Dodge Monster Truck Thunder Drags events. Sherman also mentioned that the network would be open to the possibility of covering another monster truck series at some point in the future.
We thank Mr. Sherman for taking time to speak with us today, and we hope to see more monster trucks on The Outdoor Channel someday soon!! (01/03/07)
