Wildfire Motorsports Returns From Colombia, Announces Sponsorship!!:  The Wildfire Motorsports team recently returned from a trip to Bogota, Colombia, where Twisted Dragon and Full Throttle performed at the annual El Premio Nacional de Tractomulas, held at Autódromo de Tocancipá. GM Colombia's Chevrolet division sponsored this year's event, and arranged for the Twisted Dragon Corvette and Full Throttle Silverado monster trucks to be on hand and put on a freestyle exhibition each day. Drivers Rob French, Brian Harwood, and Kevin King put on a great show for the crowd in what is believed to be the first monster truck exhibition ever held in Colombia. Wildfire Motorsports is proud to announce that GM South America has entered into a major sponsorship agreement with the team that will include additional trips to South America later this year and in 2008. The Wildfire team has exciting plans for the future, stay tuned for further details as they become available. Monsters On Mainstreet Rocks Crete, IL!!:  I received a request to post the following from an organization called Medialink relating to this past weekend's Monsters On Mainstreet event in Crete, IL. The embedded video clip features a great look at the event, although you may need the latest version of Flash to view it. Thanks to Eric Klein and Medialink for sending it to us!!

"Can you imagine a Monster Truck Rally in your backyard? Well, what if you were responsible for it? That was what happened to Bruce Heavner when he was named a finalist in Ford and Monster Jam’s online competition. With his three fellow finalists, Bruce was given a key to a Ford Super Duty Truck. If his key started the car, he would win a free “Monsters on Mainstreet” Truck Rally for his hometown.
As Bruce turned the key, he had no clue that come July 21st his hometown of Crete, Illinois – Population 7,000 – would have truck after truck roaring down Main Street. Soon after, most of the town’s population filled the nearby Kankakee Speedway. As trucks collided with metal, the town of Crete had Bruce, Ford and Monster Jam to thank for their night of chaotic fun.
For a glimpse at the night’s proceeding, take a look at the following video:"  (07/25/07)

Freestyle would see a great run from Perrin to start off the show, with big hits on the van stack and wild donuts. Geremie Dishman ripped off a great slap wheelie in Rammunition, and Andy Hoffman rolled War Wagon after a reverser over the van stack went bad. Mark Hall in Raminator closed freestyle with a solid effort, but it was Jocelyn Perrin taking another well deserved victory. The show ended with some close racing, including a great final round match-up between Noelke and Dishman. It was Rammunition taking the win by a nose, giving Geremie Dishman and the Hall Brothers Racing team a popular hometown win. Thanks to George Eisenhart and the Image Promotions staff for a great show, be watching for tons more photos and video coming your way soon!!  (07/22/07)

Mac Plecker in Ballistic beat Andy Hoffman in War Wagon, and then narrowly edged out Gerding to take the racing win in the finals. All the trucks did a great job in freestyle, including a nice save by Mac to keep from rolling Ballistic and a classic Andy Hoffman reverser. Monster Truck Hall of Fame Update!!:  The following update was sent to me by The American Monster Truck Museum group on July 10th:  "We want to thank everyone for the warm reception of our goal. We are getting geared up for what we hope will be a great first year. We have been working on the location and building layout. With any venture comes substantial planning and need for funds. We are not going to publish every detail but from time to time will have The Monster Blog give a small update. Realistically look for us to open our doors summer/fall 2008. Now for the updates...

- Museum Update:
We have received offers to have trucks and other memorabilia loaned or given to us to be on display and are excited at the enthusiasm the monster truck community has showed. We have also been asked about taking financial contributions. We are discussing it, but at this time are not accepting anything. If we do, we will do some sort of thing that would recognize and thank those that would contribute. Maybe a fan wall with a picture? We are looking more to corporate, non--Monster Truck affiliated sponsors or advertisers, for our financial backing at this point.

- Hall of Fame Update:
We are selecting and getting our first year HOF committee in place. We have been working on all the details and also getting our nominee list prepared for committee voting. We may hold our first Hall of Fame inductee ceremony before our predicted opening date but nothing 100% certain is on the table.
People have been asking and we have asked a few select people to be a part of our staff. After thinking about it, we will put a page on the HOF/museum website that will have a general application you can print out and mail it to us for review. The website will have a list of open positions. We feel this is the easiest/fastest way at this point. If you would like to be a part, please fill out an application and get it to us.

We are now open for suggestions and comments anyone may have. Please email us at and the person in that area will look it over and get back to you if needed. Now for the teaser!! Are you curious who is on the list for consideration to be in our inaugural Hall of Fame class? Have you pondered just who has spoke with us about having their trucks on display? Who might be a special guest giving autographs? What will our layout look like? ...Stay tuned as we get closer to opening the doors. Head on over to our website to learn more about the American Monster Truck Museum & Official Hall of Fame. Thanks!!"  (07/18/07)

Linsey Weenk To Leave 2Xtreme Racing:  (Toganoxie, KS)  Linsey Weenk, the popular driver of the Checker Schuck’s Kragen Auto Parts Iron Outlaw monster truck will be leaving the team he joined 2 ½ years ago effective this August. The 28 year old Canadian driver is making a move to Live Nation Motorsports where he will drive the Ford sponsored Blue Thunder truck.

The Iron Outlaw debuted in January of 2005 as a teammate to Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter. In Weenk’s time behind the wheel he captured 12 major stadium victories on the Monster Jam tour including an incredible 7 race winning streak in the 2006 season. That season included wins at both the final ever event inside the Pontiac Silverdome and the first event in Detroit’s Ford Field. In both 2006 and 2007 Weenk competed in the Monster Jam World Finals, qualifying third behind Creten at each running. One of his most memorable moments includes dodging a tumbling Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger after a first round victory in the Silverdome.
"It’s been an incredible ride here and I want to thank everyone with the team" noted Weenk. "The CSK team does a ton of events each year and the bottom line is I’m looking to spend less time on the road. Jimmy always gave me the best possible equipment to drive and never held me back so I’m very grateful to him for that." Linsey will pilot Blue Thunder at the Monsters on Mainstreet event July 21st and then move back into Iron Outlaw until mid-August. Team members Russ Steeley, Jay McPherson and Darren Migues will then take over for the remainder of the ’07 schedule.
The future of 2Xtreme Racing’s third truck is undecided at this time. "We’re sad to see Linsey leave. He was a great part of the team and I don’t know of many drivers that could top him" added Creten. "At this point we’re looking at different scenarios for next year and will make some decisions in the next few weeks as to what we’re going to do with the truck". No matter what configuration the team runs in the coming year rest assured the level of performance and commitment to their sponsors will remain extremely high.

Creten & Bounty Hunter Gain Worldwide Recognition!!:  (Toganoxie, KS)  Monster truck fans in the U.S., Canada and even Mexico are familiar with Jimmy Creten and Bounty Hunter but now the duo is a true international star. Competing in the first ever monster truck event in Israel, the blue CSK team swept racing and freestyle in 2 separate performances. "We had a great time in Tel Aviv. Both [crew chief] Darren and I were a little apprehensive about the trip but were pleasantly surprised with the people and atmosphere" explained Creten.

An estimated 41,000 brand new monster truck fans took in the action at Ramat Gann Stadium. "We're looking forward to doing more overseas events with Edge Motorsports and possibly even some of the Monster Jam Europe tour" commented team manager Brian Manson. The truck was placed back in its sea container and will arrive back in the states later this month.
Just 24 hours after the finale in Tel Aviv, Creten made a 6,400 mile voyage to San Diego where teammate Linsey Weenk had already begun a series of shows at the huge Del Mar Fairgrounds. After landing at 2pm, he headed straight for the race track, jumped in another Bounty Hunter machine and was freestyling just 3 hours later.

The San Diego County Fair kicked off a huge west coast tour for the CSK trucks. With 8 stops in California, and another eight spread throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana, Minnesota and Idaho the team is looking forward to getting more exposure for their primary sponsor Checker Schuck's and Kragen Auto Parts. CSK's stores are concentrated in western US, which is why Bounty Hunter, Scarlet Bandit and Iron Outlaw frequent those events.
"Our goal is to keep the performance level where it is now, both trucks are running great. We want to keep up that momentum all the way to Red Bluff in October" said Creten in regards to the hectic schedule. Red Bluff, CA is home to the annual West Coast Monster Truck Nationals which brings together a tough field of competitors each fall. "We do many of these summer shows every year and it's really cool to see familiar faces each time" added Scarlet Bandit driver Dawn Creten.
The entire team invites fans to come out and meet them this summer, for more information check their website at  (07/08/07)

The former World Freestyle Champion was named the winningest driver during the tour. Jimmy certainly lived up to the accolade as he roared to both racing and wheelie contest wins during the weekend. "It all started on the east coast of Canada", said Creten of the tour's beginning. "Now here in Victoria, we are as far west as we can go". Creten went on to salute other driver's level of competition such as veteran Don Frankish and team mate Linsey Weenk in Iron Outlaw and the fan support as the keys to his championship tour run.
