Runte, Creten Take Wins In MTC Hall of Fame Race at Gateway!!:  The Monster Truck Challenge series rolled into St. Louis, MO this weekend for the first ever monster truck event at Gateway International Raceway!!  The MTC crew pulled at all the stops and designed a wild figure 8 racing course that provided a number of exciting races over the course of the evening. Qualifying would see strong runs from Mark Hall in Raminator and Doug Noelke in Tail Gator, but they were unable to match up to a near perfect run from Dan Runte in Bigfoot #16 who would take the #1 spot. Jimmy Creten took a wild ride coming over the finish line jump after his second qualifying pass, but some great driving kept Bounty Hunter on all fours.

After pre-race ceremonies, the action kicked into high gear with the first round of racing. Dan Runte wasted no time putting away Steve Koehler in Brutus, while Jimmy Creten and Mike Hawkins in Equalizer also advanced. Mark Hall in Raminator would take the win in the next match-up over Jim Koehler in Avenger but both trucks would suffer mechanical damage that would put them out of the brackets--a blown motor for Raminator and a broken driveshaft for Avenger. The final race would see a costly mistake for Doug Noelke in Tail Gator, who red-lighted handing the win to Devin Jones in Barbarian.

The second round would provide two of the most exciting races of the night right off the bat. First Dan Runte would match-up against Doug Noelke, who made it back into the bracket as the fast loser, even after the penalty in the previous round. In a hard-fought battle, Noelke was unable to overcome another near-perfect pass laid down by Runte. In what announcer George Eisenhart correctly predicted would be the "race of the night", 1-2 in the MTC season points, Jimmy Creten and Mike Hawkins faced-off in a high-powered, hard-nosed match-up that ended with Equalizer taking down Creten. With neither Raminator or Avenger able to continue, Steve Koehler in Brutus was given another chance against fast loser Troy Rose in Hot Tamale. Rose was very impressive in defeating Brutus and would be moving on to the semi-finals. Andy Hoffman in Nitemare received the last of three fast loser berths and would take on Devin Jones in Barbarian for the last semi-final round spot. In a close race that saw both drivers fighting the handling on their trucks, Jones would receive the win after a penalty was assesed to Hoffman for not hitting a ramp with both tires.

The semi-finals would start with two of the best trucks thus far going head-to-head for a shot at the big racing win. Once again, Dan Runte laid down a picture-perfect run in Bigfoot and would advance despite the best efforts of Mike Hawkins. Young guns Troy Rose in Hot Tamale and Devin Jones in Barbarian were slated to battle for a shot at the win, but Jones would have to sit out with motor issues handing the win to Rose.

The championship match-up would come down to the rookie versus the veteran. Even though Troy Rose had been impressive thus far in Hot Tamale, Dan Runte had been perfect in Bigfoot. With the St. Louis crowd cheering strongly behind their hometown hero, Dan Runte drove to the win with the skill and precision that has made him one of the all-time greats. Runte celebrated with some wild donuts in the infield grass to the delight of the screaming hometown Bigfoot fans. In a special presentation from MTC General Manager Rich Schaefer, Runte was awarded a specially made Monster Truck Challenge guitar for his victory.

Monster Truck Challenge's stop in St. Louis was billed as the Hall of Fame race as the first three inductees into the Monster Truck Challenge Hall of Fame were honored during the event: the legendary Jim Kramer of Bigfoot, Jack Wilman Sr. of Taurus fame, and Fred Shafer of Bearfoot. On hand to accept for the induction ceremony were Jack Wilman Sr. and son Jack Wilman Jr., along with Bob Chandler and the family of Jim Kramer, who was away at an event. Fred Shafer did not attend. Kudos to MTC for honoring our sport's history by inducting three of the sport's founders into their Hall of Fame, right in the heart of the birthplace of monster trucks.

After some high-flying freestyle motocross, the Chaos monster truck limo made its debut during intermission. With smoke, laser lights, and its massive size, Chaos definitely made an impression on the St. Louis crowd and will no doubt be one of the many spectacles to enjoy at Monster Truck Challenge events around the country.

Monster truck freestyle would end the evening as Troy Rose in Hot Tamale led off the competition with a solid run. Andy Hoffman in Nitemare rolled to the track and got the crowd excited with a spectacular slow-motion wheelie across the cars and two wild donuts on the banked ashphalt down into the infield grass. While it was indeed a good run, the judges shocked the crowd, flipping an incredible three 10's for a score of 30!!

Doug Noelke in Tail Gator followed with a strong run that featured donuts and several slap wheelies, but could only manage a 26 from the judges. Steve Koehler in Brutus did the best he could with a hurt motor, while Devin Jones pumped things up with some big air in Barbarian.
Runte in Bigfoot came to the track looking for the sweep and managed to put together a very good freestyle that featured slap wheelies and big air over the bus. It would still not be enough to top Hoffman, as the judges were being much more conservative with the scoring after getting somewhat overzealous earlier in the competition.

Mad Mike Hawkins stormed to the track in Equalizer and for his first hit, went right after the one obstacle no one had dared to take on thus far in freestyle--the giant cement mixer on the far end of the course. With absolutely jaw-dropping air to start his run, Hawkins never let up, mixing in wild donuts, slap wheelies, and nearly everything else you could have asked for in a freestyle. All for a score of...29!!  The crowd was not happy with the score, but there was no doubt who had the best run with only two trucks left to go.

After driveshaft problems continued to plague Jim Koehler and Avenger, cutting his run short, it was time for the final truck to run: MTC points leader Jimmy Creten in Bounty Hunter. After a disapointing showing in racing, Creten was ready to cut loose in freestyle. In a run that once again saw huge air over the cement mixer, huge air over the bus, slap wheelies, and donuts, Creten was able to do what Mike Hawkins was not--earn a score of 30 from the judges. In a somewhat lopsided cheeroff between Creten and Hoffman, Bounty Hunter was awarded the big freestyle win in the MTC Hall of Fame Race at Gateway.

Grave Digger Versus Bigfoot at Canfield, OH Truck & Jeep Fest This Weekend!!:  (Youngstown, OH) While 4x4 trucks and jeeps may originally have been designed for work in tough situations, they have become the focus of fun and recreation for thousands of enthusiasts. The 4x4 lifestyle offers families a chance to get outdoors, get away from work and worry, and pursue happy times together. The Truck & Jeep Fest Presented by 4 Wheel Parts and 4 Wheel Drive Hardware, returning for its second year to the Canfield, Ohio Fairgrounds, is a full weekend of events that will give families a chance to experience that lifestyle from every angle. Show hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm on Saturday, July 26 and 9:00am to 4:30pm on Sunday, July 27.

The headline attraction of the Truck & Jeep Fest will showcase the biggest, baddest, most legendary 4 x 4’s in existence. Grave Digger and Bigfoot are the most famous monster trucks in the world and they will be matched in side-by-side drag racing and in axle-wrenching freestyles in the Monster Truck Thunder Drags held each day during the Truck & Jeep Fest. Joining them will be top monster trucks such as series point co-leaders Raminator and Rammunition. Rounding out the car-crushing, ramp-jumping monster truck lineup will be Pro Comp.
The competition on the specially designed obstacle course at the Canfield Fairgrounds will continue all weekend with the Tough Trucks® Challenge. Running in multiple classes, these trucks and jeeps go all out through tight turns, and over high-flying jumps racing side by side and against the clock.
Spectators who want to get the feel for what it’s like to ride in a monster truck will have the chance as the Sergeant Smash monster truck gives families a chance to ride over the same ground where Grave Digger and Bigfoot will compete.
Anyone who has ever been to a drag race will tell you that the tire smoking burnout before each run down the strip is just plain fun. There’s just something about watching the tires spin and the smoke rise—the rumble and the smell—that makes a great burnout a thrill. At the Truck & Jeep Fest, one favorite Grandstand attraction will be the tire-melting Burnout Competition.
Jeep and off-road 4 x 4 truck enthusiasts have long used steep, rocky climbs to put their machines to the most extreme test. At the Truck & Jeep Fest, that experience will be re-created in the Rock Crawl Challenge. Huge boulders are built into a baffling obstacle course that contestants attempt to traverse while not getting stuck or straying out of bounds. Points are deducted for each small infraction. The most perfect runs win in multiple vehicle classes. Local jeep club, North East Crawlers, will host and run the Rock Crawl Challenge all weekend.
More an exhibition than a competition, the Mud Bog Challenge will be the chance for participants to see just how their 4-wheeler building skills measure up when the vehicle in question is up to its engine compartment in gooey muck and mire.
The Performance Marketplace at the Truck & Jeep Fest will offer attendees their best chance of the year to save money on the latest in parts and accessories for their vehicle. Over 130 top manufacturers will be on hand to show off, explain, and sell their products. Lincoln Electric Welding will be holding informative seminars throughout the event. This will be the largest exhibition of aftermarket performance parts ever seen in Canfield.
The Toyota Trail Teams Ride and Drive Obstacle Course is new to the Truck & Jeep Fest for 2008. Toyota offers all licensed drivers an opportunity to learn to drive a well-equipped 4 x 4 over a multi-obstacle course with an off-road expert giving guidance, instructions and driving tips throughout.
At the main stage on Sunday afternoon, the cash-prize Miss Truck & Jeep Fest competition will be held. All through the weekend, over $50,000 worth of “Super Prizes” will be given away to participants from the main stage. Participants will also have the chance to enter to win national exposure for their vehicle by registering to win a cover-shot on the catalog of 4-Wheel Parts, 4-Wheel Drive Hardware, or Off-Road Adventures Magazine.
More than 1,000 4-wheel drive vehicles are expected to participate in the Truck & Jeep Fest making a significant positive impact on the local Canfield area economy. National magazines covering the event include Peterson's 4-Wheel & Off Road Magazine, Four Wheeler Magazine and Off-Road Adventures Magazine.
Discount advance tickets give families a chance to save on admission. Advance sale discount tickets are available at 4-Wheel Drive Hardware, participating Denny’s restaurants, or at TruckandJeepFest.com. Participants may register their 4x4s at TruckandJeepFest.com for $45 through Friday, July 18th or on site for $60 starting Friday, July 25th at 2pm. Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children (3-12 years). Tickets at the gate are $15 for adults and $8 for children (3-12 years). Two Day Passes are available for $24. For additional show information visit the series website at TruckandJeepFest.com or call 317-236-6515. (07/25/08)

Batman Sighting Due for Melbourne, Australia Tomorrow Night!!:  (KC's Fireworks PR) First it was Batman the movie… now Batman the Monster Truck!!  The world’s meanest Batmobile – all five tons, 1500 horsepower, and tires and wheels bigger than a family sedan will head up the wild and whacky cast of JUMP MANIA 2008. All the action bounds onto Centre Court at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena Saturday, July 26th.

Melbourne will also be treated to Australia’s very first sighting of the new Sony Playstation Monster Storm truck. No less than five mighty mechanical giants including favorite Scooby-Doo! and the new look Batman will wage war in an international shootout featuring point-to-point racing, wheelie freestyle challenge, and the awesome Monster Truck train.
Champion U.S. monster truck professional driver James Tigue III will jet into Melbourne for a sole Australian appearance at the Melbourne spectacular. The 35-year-old Tigue is the 2005 PSM World Finals Champion and is recognized as the one of the sport’s “Wheelie Kings.” He wowed Melbourne two years ago by setting his truck on a rear wheel dance around the home of the Australian Tennis Open.
A heavy home schedule has precluded Tigue from an extended Aussie tour, but he is honoring a commitment to return to Melbourne with this one-off performance. The American has been handed the role of driving Batman which now boasts a major mechanical update plus outrageous paint and bodywork. The truck is officially licensed by Warner Bros. and is the only Batman truck outside of America.
But Tigue will be put to the test by a colorful troupe of home-based drivers in a lineup that ranges from kids’ favorite Scooby-Doo! to bucking bronco Outback Thunda, mighty Sampson, and the new Monster Storm.
Joining the trucks in this family entertainment fest will be flame-belching dragon Tranzilla. Standing two-storys tall, Tranzilla lights up the night air before embarking on a display
terminating in the crunching of a car in his rugged jaws. There’s more mayhem in store with Junior Trucks (half-scale Monster Trucks), dirt track quadracers and even a zany crash-for-cash demolition derby.
The all-weather comfort, convenience and confines of Melbourne Park has helped establish Jump Mania as the annual Monster Truck Mecca on the local calendar. And the action is not restricted to four-wheels as Queensland’s radical Robbie Marshall heads a lineup of motocross madmen culminating in awesome backflip variations. Rounding out the program is a laser lightshow with indoor pyrotechnics to heighten the theatrics of Melbourne’s only showing of Monster Trucks for 2008.
The engines roar into life at 6:00pm and conclude at 9:15pm with an autograph and meet-the-drivers session in the concourse foyer. Tickets are available through Ticketek outlets, online at www.Ticketek.com.au or by phone at 132 849. Prices range from Adult $42.90-$57.90 and Junior $29.90-$42.90 with a special Save $25 Family Pass. SIR's Amsoil Shock Therapy Debuts!!:  (Jefferson, LA) The brand-new Amsoil Shock Therapy monster truck of Sudden Impact Racing debuted earlier this week at an Amsoil function Minnesota. Team co-owner Brandon Lagarde and driver Jon Zimmer were on hand to sign autographs and answer questions about this amazing racing machine. The truck sports a custom SIR truck body, and features a stunning SuperWraps vinyl wrap, designed by the folks at KCKustom Motorsports Graphic Design. When you see the Amsoil Shock Therapy truck in person, it is nothing short of shocking, pun intended.

“The Shock Therapy name has appeared a limited number of times elsewhere in monster trucks in the past,” said Brandon Lagarde. “I don’t feel that the name and the Amsoil brand has ever been done justice like this before, and I couldn’t be more honored, and proud, to have been picked by Amsoil to represent the Shock Therapy name. We are more than excited about our future with Amsoil…we’ve got so much stuff planned and in the works, I think the fans are really going to be in for a treat.”
“I can’t wait to hit the track with it!” said team driver Jon Zimmer during a Wednesday press interview. “Our trucks have been running hard this summer; we’ve been putting nearly the entire line of Amsoil products to the test on the track and on the road, and they have performed great. I’m very honored to be able to carry the Amsoil Shock Therapy name into battle for Sudden Impact Racing and Amsoil; we’re going to do our very best to send some hardware back to everyone at the Amsoil offices!” Zimmer would not have to wait long to carry the Amsoil Shock Therapy colors in front of a crowd, as the truck would hit the track Saturday night in Ontario, Canada at an Edge Motorsports event. Initial reports are that the truck performed outstanding, and the new look was a hit with the fans.
Stay tuned to www.SuddenImpact.com for more updates on the Amsoil Shock Therapy truck as developments warrant. In the mean time, make sure you check out www.Amsoil.com to learn more about why Amsoil is The First In Synthetics. Not only that, but you can order products and merch for yourself, your vehicle, and anyone else! (07/25/08)

Real Wheels "Eliminator Series" to Appear on Bar's Leaks Eliminator!!:  (Greencastle, IN) The Truk Wurks monster truck racing team of Greencastle, IN and the Real Wheels Corporation of Gurnee, IL are proud to announce the extension of their long-standing relationship, which will keep the Truk Wurks team looking great with the help of Real Wheels’ fantastic line of stainless steel wheel simulators and covers! This new partnership is designed to help promote Real Wheels’ “Eliminator Series” stainless steel wheel simulators, by featuring them prominently on both the aptly named Bar’s Leaks Eliminator monster truck, and the team’s 18-wheeler transporter.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to announce an extension of our partnership with Real Wheels,” said Truk Wurks general manager Greg Adams. “Our involvement with the good folks at the Real Wheels Corporation goes back a number of years. Their products have proven time and time again that they are strong enough to stand up to even the most brutal conditions that monster trucks run in. If they can handle mud, dust, water, and countless jumps and bumps on the race track, plus hundreds of thousands of miles on the highway each year, then I’m sure they are tough enough for anyone’s vehicle,” added Adams.
“The Real Wheels Eliminator Series wheel simulators have allowed us to give our monster trucks a customized look that most trucks don’t have,” said Truk Wurks shop foreman Zach Adams. He went on to elaborate further: “We’ve had the center caps on our Real Wheels simulators painted and anodized to match the color scheme of the various paint jobs we’ve utilized over the last several years. We’ve run blue center caps to match our Summit Truckstyle body, yellow ones to coordinate with our KC HiLites body, and now a red-to-black fade that matches up great with our Bar’s Leaks Eliminator body. We don’t settle for plain, painted wheels; we take the high road and use Real Wheels!”
“I’ve been involved in trucking for over twenty years,” said Real Wheels founder and President Jan G. Polka, “and nothing excites me more than seeing a sharp looking truck, no matter what kind it is. Truck enthusiasts of all kinds are drawn to monster truck racing, and truckers are no exception. We at Real Wheels are proud to continue our sponsorship of the Truk Wurks team; they have a reputation for having some of the best looking trucks in the sport, and we are proud to help add to that reputation!”
“The Real Wheels Corporation’s product lineup is not limited strictly to big trucks and commercial vehicles,” added Greg Adams. “They offer an extensive line of stainless steel products and other add-ons for everything from RV’s and coaches to Dodge Vipers and Toyota Land Cruisers. Be sure to check them out, and tell them that Truk Wurks sent you!”
You can learn more about the Real Wheels Corporation and their extensive line of products at www.RealWheels.com. Also, be sure to visit Truk Wurks at www.Truk-Wurks.com for the latest info on the team and their Bar’s Leaks Eliminator monster truck!! (07/25/08)

Obsession Racing Press Release!!:  (Menifee, CA) The last three weekends have been extremely busy for the Obsession Racing team. In twenty-one days we did five shows at four venues for two different promoters. The tour started off in Lancaster, CA for a freestyle show for Outlaw Monster Trucks. It was three rounds of freestyle where Obsession was a crowd favorite.

The following weekend took place in San Bernardino, CA, again for Outlaw Monster Trucks. This was a very unique show, because it was all done on asphalt. This show was also three rounds of freestyle. This time the crowd judged each round. Rick took the win for round two. The crowd also got to see Eric Swanson in his trophy kart showing off his two wheel driving skills. This made Dad a little nervous but he managed to go home with no damage done.
For the 4th of July weekend, WGAS Motorsports had us booked at two different venues. Our holiday started off in Pomona, CA on the 4th of July for their annual Kaboom show which consisted of freestyle motocross, monster trucks, and an awesome fireworks show. On the 5th and 6th of July we were at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for two shows a day both days. Again Eric got to ham it up in his mini Obsession to start the crowd off cheering. All the freestyle competitions ended with Obsession and Bounty Hunter in a cheer-off.
Our next scheduled event will be in August for California Trucks and Stuff in Grants Pass, Oregon. For more information Rick Swanson and the Obsession monster truck, check us out at www.ObsessionRacing.com!!  (07/25/08)

Big Trucks = Big Success: Truk Wurks Open House a Hit!!:  (Greencastle, IN) The Truk Wurks team is pleased to report that their first annual open-house event at their Greencastle, IN headquarters this 4th of July weekend was a smash hit!

The Bar's Leaks Eliminator monster truck sat on display all weekend, joined by the team's classic show truck "Whiskey Runner"; this duo caused quite a commotion, bringing in truck enthusiasts and families all weekend long. "We couldn't be more pleased with our turn out this weekend," said Truk Wurks general manager Greg Adams. "This has been a tough and exciting challenge to get our brand-new Truk Wurks show room and service center up and running, but if this weekend is any indication of what's to come, I think our hard work will pay off," he added.
Truk Wurks customers will be able to buy and/or custom order all manner of aftermarket products for their car, truck, SUV, or race vehicle. In addition to that, Truk Wurks will also offer custom fabrication services, installation of parts, vehicle tuning, and diesel repair. Greg Adams will oversee the majority of the operation as general manager, with son Zach Adams serving as shop foreman. Kyle Doyle will be assisting with marketing and sales duties, while long-time team member Michael Honcho will be handling outside sales tasks. "We've got a great staff put together with a diverse background, so we will be able to serve our customers from start to finish. From product research and consulting to purchasing and right up to the installation and beyond, we've got them covered!" said Adams.

The team will also continue to campaign the Bar's Leaks Eliminator monster truck out of the Truk Wurks shop. As part of its Bar's Leaks sponsorship, the team is planning an aggressive static display schedule to augment their race/show schedule. "With the Bar's Leaks Eliminator, we bring to the table a powerful marketing tool that can assist promoters in generating ticket sales and increasing event awareness," Adams mentioned. "Bar's Leaks products are retailed at auto parts stores and discount stores like Wal-Mart all over the country, so we feel that the Bar's Leaks truck will be a great asset in helping promoters build a successful event by featuring the truck on display prior to a race," he added.
For more inforation on the Truk-Wurks shop, the team as a whole, and the Bar's Leaks Eliminator monster truck, be sure to visit www.Truk-Wurks.com. The team is planning some big updates for the Truk Wurks website, to be sure to check back often for more news and content!! (07/08/08)

Lucas Oil Speedway Diamond of Destruction Event Postponed:  (Wheatland, MO) After continuing to look at our remaining 2008 schedule, we are making changes that make sense for our current economic climate. With that being said, the weekly racing scheduled for August 9th has been canceled and the Monster Truck/Demolition Derby scheduled for August 10th has been postponed.
"We had three straight days of racing scheduled for this weekend," said Kevin Greven, General Track Manager. "Weekly racing on Saturday, Monster Trucks and Demo on Sunday and the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits on Monday. With gas prices and the general economy, many fans have to make some hard choices when it comes to their motor sports entertainment dollar. This weekend, we are simply helping by eliminating some of those decisions."
The O'Reilly Sprint Bandits made the cut and will run as scheduled on Monday night August 11th. This is their first stop after leaving Knoxville on the "2008 Touring Topless" Midwest swing.
"These 410 wingless sprints will be, with out a doubt, our wildest show this year," added Greven. "If there is one event this season that race fans in the Midwest should consider a must see, this is it!"  Track officials are currently looking at optional dates for the Monster Truck and demolition derby event. Watch www.LucasOilSpeedway.com for further updates. (07/03/08)
