2009 Bigfoot Open House Recap & Teasers!!:  Midwest 4-Wheel Drive in Hazelwood, MO, the home of Bigfoot 4x4, opened their doors Saturday for their annual open house event and TheMonsterBlog.com was on hand for all the festivities!!  The headline of the event was Bigfoot and Snake Bite in a car crushing grudge match, with Rodney Tweedy and Larry Swim behind the wheel. The first round went to Swim as he stood the Snake straight up and down several times in a great exhibition. After some heavy rain shows, the second round later in the day was close as the two both did a great job, but the edge would probably once again go to Swim. Rick Long joined in the fun on the second crush as well, putting #15 through its paces. All in all, it was a great turnout as fans came out to see all the Bigfoot trucks, along with many 4x4's and even Kurt Pfitzner's King of the Hill monster truck. We'll have coverage from the open house in our next episode of TMB TV, premiering this Friday night at 8PM Eastern, but in the meantime, check out some great photos from Rajeana Bonar!!  A big thanks to everyone with Bigfoot 4x4 for their hospitality!!  (09/27/09)

Mark Hall & Raminator Win 2009 Monster Truck Thunder Drags Title!!:  (Champaign, IL) The Hall Brothers Racing team returned from Indy this weekend with another series title. Mark Hall, in RAMINATOR, came into the event 120 points ahead of Dan Runte in Bigfoot, and was able to traverse the tricky “s” shaped course and take RAMINATOR to the final in both races. This earned the Champaign, IL driver enough points to lock up his 8th Special Events Monster Truck Thunder Drags title which was also his 14th overall championship title.

Geremie Dishman, in RAMMUNITION, the title winner in 2006, came into Indy in third place, and thanks to a win on Sunday, was able to pass Bigfoot and come home in 2nd place. Said Dishman, “We set out to get a 1-2 finish, and I am proud that we accomplished our goal. When I suffered some engine damage on Friday, I thought we might be vulnerable, but the team was prepared, worked hard, and came through with a win on Sunday”. Mark Hall added “ Special Events changed the points structure this year, to make sure everyone counted the same number of events. It was very close. In fact, coming into Indy…4 drivers had a shot at the title. I am just glad we pulled it off. Our RAM ran great all weekend, and we drove it into the finals. It was a great weekend for the whole team. I want to thank Special Events for putting on a great series again this year. All the racers did a great job. Nobody ran away with anything…and it was very competitive.“
The team plans to return in 2010 to once again defend its title, and try to round out the decade with another championship. “That would be really cool!” Hall said. We definitely are hungry for more!  For more information on Hall Brothers Racing, check out

Bigfoot Named to Top 5 Marketing Vehicles of All Time!!:  (Hazelwood, MO) BIGFOOT®, The Original Monster Truck®, was named one of the "Top 5 Marketing Vehicles of All Time" by the St. Louis-based experimental marketing firm Pro Motion. This lofty honor is certainly a feather in the cap of the monster truck industry.
Joining the BIGFOOT trucks in the top-five were the US Navy Blue Angels/US Air Force Thunderbirds (#4), the Goodyear Blimp (#3), the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile (#2), and the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale Hitch (#1). Certainly some well-known company to be rubbing shoulders with!

Pro Motion described BIGFOOT's place in marketing history: "It all started in 1974 when Bob Chandler built the first BIGFOOT, right here in our own backyard, St. Louis, Missouri. It was built under a 1974 Ford F-250 body with giant Firestone flotation tires. In 1979 they added rear-wheel steering, which made parallel parking at the mall a breeze. In 1981 the famous words "Hey guys, watch THIS!" were uttered by Bob when he decided to see if he could drive BIGFOOT over a couple of old junk cars. Bob survived, and a new "sport" was born. Monster trucks are now branded, promoted, and highly attended by millions every year."
BIGFOOT certainly has had an impact on the automotive world over the last three and a half decades, not only spawning an entirely new form of automotive competition but also increasing the world's awareness of and passion for the four wheel drive. Today the BIGFOOT trucks represent a number of high profile sponsors like Summit Racing Equipment and Firestone Tires, continuing a tradition of excellence on the national and international stage while keeping true to the core values that helped launch BIGFOOT's "career" 35 years ago.
For more information on Pro Motion, you can visit them online at www.promotion1.com. You can also read their online post detailing the "Top 5 Marketing Vehicles of All Time" by visiting their blog. For more info on Bigfoot 4x4, check us out at www.Bigfoot4x4.com!! (09/23/09)

Flame Motorsports & Obsession Racing - The Power of Six!!:  (Menifee, CA) Flame Motorsports is looking forward to the years to come and what we hope our time in the sport may bring to the table for our new venture with Obsession Racing. We as two independent race team owners have decided to team up our efforts to pursue sponsorship for the coming years. Rick and Jill along with David and Melody are in the process of putting together a marketing package that will include the six trucks that the teams have combined.

Flame Motorsports currently has two trucks in competition with a third truck getting a much needed refresh. Flame Motorsports is also in the process of building a ride truck that is based on the Fiesta Truck to add to their stables. Obsession Racing currently campaigns two trucks with the second truck being the all new Obsessed. The new Obsessed truck has competed in its first show in Turlock, Ca the first of August. This was the first event after the new marketing merger; Rick piloted King Krunch for the show in Turlock. David brought the Krunch body out to California anticipating the teams’ alliance.
The two teams are looking forward to the marketing power that they can offer any potential sponsors. The two teams combined run over 250 shows per year. When David was asked what he was looking for with the merger, he said “I have always thought Rick ran very well and his truck always looks top notch. With today’s financial condition we knew something had to be done to attract sponsors. Rick and I have been friends for a long time and we felt that being able to offer six trucks to choose from would show a potential sponsor that we can deliver what they need. We travel all over the country so the potential coverage that we can give our sponsors is great.”
We asked Rick Swanson the same question and he told us. “We have always felt confident in David Smith and Flame Motorsports as they have proved that they are a competitive team and show great sportsmanship. We have always admired their professionalism and image. We are confident that by having the marketing power of all six trucks will only be beneficial to both teams and sponsors. We have enjoyed working with David in the past and we are looking forward to a promising future.”
Look for the Power of Six at a city near you. For more information, check out Obsession Racing at www.ObsessionRacing.com
and Flame Motorsports at www.KingKrunch.com!!  (09/22/09)

2Xtreme Racing Sweeps Lawton, Oklahoma!!:  The Outlaw Monster Truck Spectacular came to Lawton, Oklahoma's Lawton Rangers Rodeo Arena for the first time Saturday night and 2Xtreme Racing's Bounty Hunter and Iron Outlaw and Sturges Motorsports' Nasty Boy, Unnamed & Untamed and 1/2 Pint battled it out over three rounds of freestyle. Jay McPherson in Bounty Hunter picked up the wins in the first two rounds despite strong efforts from the rest of the field. The final round would come down to a dual freestyle battle between 2Xtreme Racing and Sturges Motorsports, but early breakage for Ronnie Sturges in Nasty Boy would limit what the Sturges team could do. Jay McPherson and Joe Miller in Iron Outlaw then took to the track and put on a great dual freestyle to finish the night. All in all, the TMB crew had a lot of fun and we look forward to bringing you all the action as Part 2 of our next episode of TMB TV, coming out this Friday night, September 25th at 8PM Eastern. See below for a couple of teaser photos from the event, and a big thanks to the Outlaw Monster Trucks crew and the teams for a great time. Stay tuned for more!!  (09/21/09)

Hartsock, King Take Wins In Springdale!!:  The Monster X Tour rolled into Parsons Stadium in Springdale, Arkansas for the first time this past weekend featuring a great battle between Dan Runte, Scott Hartsock and Don King. The action kicked off in front of a packed house with the monster truck wheelie contest. The only real question was if anyone could beat Don King, who has been nearly unstoppable in wheelie competitions in 2009. The surprise effort of the contest came from rookie driver Chad Yeager in Wildmann, competing in only his second event. On his first hit, Yeager stood the truck straight up and down and walked it off the cars for a wheelie that would be tough to beat. Neither Hartsock nor Runte could match Yeager's effort but Don King lived up to his reputation, nailing down an incredible walking wheelie that he rode off the car set and on one wheel, saving the truck from going over backwards to nail down the wheelie contest victory.

The monster truck racing competition was expected to come down to an all-out match up between Dan Runte and Scott Hartsock and that's exactly how it played out as the two lined up for the final round race. Hartsock got a slight jump on the start and launched over the cars, but Runte was gaining fast coming to the finish line. In a photo finish, Hartsock narrowly defeated Runte by just over a half a tire giving Gun Slinger the win in the big match-up.

Freestyle would no doubt be a close competition as all the drivers were pushing for the win. Chad Yeager put on a great wheelie display and showed no fear, going up and over the huge van stack that was setup on top of the racing cars during intermission. It was a strong run for the rookie driver.

Gun Slinger roared to the track and it was obvious that Scott Hartsock was gunning for the racing/freestyle sweep. With tons of momentum, huge air and a great donut, Hartsock set the bar very high for Don King and Dan Runte.

Don King rolled to the track in The General with a tough task in trying to match Hartsock's high flying run. King mixed in his trademark tailgate planting wheelies with huge jumps over the van stack, catching two huge slap wheelies on the landings that he walked across the arena for a great run.

After a solid run from Dan Runte in Bigfoot, it was time for the crowd to pick a winner. There was no doubt it would come down to either Hartsock's momentum and donuts or King's huge sky wheelies and long slap wheelies. After a very passionate cheer-off from the packed house, Don King was narrowly award the victory.
The first Monster X Tour event in Springdale was a big success, and we thank Danny Torgerson and his Monster Truck Entertainment crew for a great show. Stay tuned as for a full photo gallery from the event, and for our new episode of TMB TV which features Springdale, AR as Part 1 of 2 in our special episode highlighting promoters never before seen on TMB TV!!
