Obsession Racing Press Release!!:  (Menifee, CA) On October 9th and 10th was the debut of Obsession Racings newest part time driver. Six days after Eric Swanson’s 14th Birthday he was piloting Obsessed in front of a packed house at the Southern California Fair in Perris, CA. The crowd was excited and in awe to see his awesome driving abilities. After the event some of the best compliments to Eric were how surprised they were for someone Eric’s age that could handle and maneuver the truck as well as someone who has been in this profession for years (or even better).

When Eric was driving his truck Obsessed, Jeff Jones piloted Obsession so Rick could be on the floor with Eric for the first time. We were very proud of both drivers. Jeff caught some big air and managed pop a barrier tire onto its wheel and go for a ride. Luckily it stayed in its boundaries! On the last show Saturday night the fans got to see Rick and Eric perform for their first time together. This brought the crowd cheering on their feet for their home town boys! None of this would have been possible without John Borba from WGAS Motorsports giving Eric the opportunity and having the confidence in him to run his show. We also want to thank Frank Schettini for giving Eric the opportunity to practice driving at his ranch for this show. Of course we also have to give a big thanks to Jeff Jones for ALWAYS stepping in and helping us out when we need him and John Adams and Joe Miller (Iron Outlaw driver) for help keeping the trucks running all weekend.
The first week of November we headed to the SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV. We had a great time catching up with all of our current sponsors and even meeting some new sponsors for the upcoming years. We felt that attending this show was successful for Obsession Racing.
Check out www.ObsessionRacing.com for more information on the team!!  (11/30/09)

South Pacific World Finals 2 Photo Gallery!!:  The South Pacific World Finals 2 was a huge success this year, with Dan Patrick successfully defending his racing title and first time attendee Jim Kohler taking the freestyle championship. TMB's hats off to Clive Featherby and the entire Extreme Monster Trucks Australia group for a great event. Our good friend from down under, Darryl Smith was on hand for all the action and has once again been kind to share his great photos from the event with us. We'd also like to thank Mal Burgess for contributing some of the photos in the gallery, giving us a second angle of all the action. Check out all of Darryl and Mal's great photos below, and watch www.MonsterTrucksAustralia.com for more information on the Monsters Tour of Destruction!!  (11/28/09)

Carl Van Horn Returns to Sudden Impact Racing!!:  (Jefferson, LA) Carl VanHorn will return to driving with Sudden Impact Racing for the first quarter of 2010. VanHorn will be piloting the AMSOIL Excaliber alongside Jon Zimmer and the AMSOIL Shock Therapy. “I’m excited to be back with SIR. They’re one of the best teams in the business,” said VanHorn. ”I’m looking forward to driving Excaliber. It’s a great truck with a lot of history behind it, and Brandon Lagarde, Tim Bush, and team SIR have given me a great opportunity.”
Everything came together for VanHorn to drive quickly. With Kristy Edge taking time off to attend to personal family issues, VanHorn was contacted, and a deal was made quickly to have the three-time Monster Jam World Finals competitor drive again.

“I missed driving, and not being around for a first quarter would have eaten at me,” said VanHorn. “I had to step back before for personal reasons, but it was never anything against SIR. The fans will be getting their money’s worth and more this year!”
VanHorn also mentioned that SIR is “a great team and has great sponsors behind it” and is looking forward to pairing with Zimmer, the 2009 Monster Jam Rising Star award winner. VanHorn and Zimmer also paired together in 2007, and each driver has won or been near the top of the standings in both racing and freestyle at many shows. In addition, they’ll be on some of the biggest stages monster truck racing has to offer, including several televised shows. All the exposure and huge stadium events are no stranger to either driver, however—VanHorn is a former Grave Digger driver, and Zimmer won last year’s Anaheim racing event and tied for the freestyle victory in front of 60,000 fans.
“We’re ready to rock this year,” said Zimmer. “When we contacted Carl to drive, he was ready to get back into it; he was fired up.” Zimmer went on to say that “this year’s opportunities are tremendous, and we have Tim Bush, Brandon Lagarde, and the rest of Team SIR to thank for that.”
Chris “Panda” Ryan will remain on the team as the top mechanic and crew for Zimmer and VanHorn. “We love Panda and are excited he’s staying with us,” said Zimmer. “He will continue to work hard for us, and he was great behind the wheel. He’ll be ready when he gets a shot again.”
With major exposure and talent behind the team on all fronts, a huge year is on the horizon for Team Sudden Impact Racing!  Keep watching www.SuddenImpact.com for more team news and a full event schedule coming soon!  (11/25/09)

Abused Trucks 4x4 Purchases Arachnaphobia Monster Truck!!:  (Albany, MN) Abused Trucks 4x4, formerly known as Martial Law Monster Truck Racing, is proud to announce a new addition to the team. Paul Strong and his team have purchased the Arachnaphobia monster truck from Scott Anderson. Scott will continue to drive it as Arachnaphobia for our first quarter Monster Jam schedule, booked along with Martial Law. After first quarter, the truck will get a new rollcage and will feature the Heart Breaker body with Kaila Savage as the full time driver.
Scott Anderson is a great friend of the team and has always done a great job in his truck, so we're very excited that he will stay in the seat for one more season. So there is no confusion, we must add that Scott is not getting out of this industry. He loves what he does, and this provided a new opportunity for him as well as it does for us.

Kaila drove several weekends this summer in the Martial Law truck with her Heart Breaker body on it. She had a lot of fun getting a little bit of seat time, meeting a ton of fans, signing all those pink hats, shirts, and flags, and is very excited for what 2010 will bring for her Heart Breaker truck.
Martial Law is going to run another first quarter under its current chassis, then the team will be getting a brand new chassis sometime after first quarter. We've spent the last 4 years figuring out what parts work and what doesn't work for us, and we are confident that the new chassis will be a great improvement for this truck. It's stronger where it needs to be stronger, and lighter where it needs to be lighter.

None of this would have been possible without some very important people. My brother David, my great friend Eric Reetz, my very understanding children Alexis and Alyssa, and my fiancee Kaila. Those are just the tip of the iceberg. This is not to mention all of our friends who have helped us get loaded out of the shop in the middle of the night, the teams who have helped us put the truck back together at the track, the promoters who have given us the opportunity to race, and the fans who have come over to meet us, send us gifts, and come to support us. Our sponsors have hooked us up with ignition parts from MSD, batteries from Optima, coolant from Engine Ice, welders from Lincoln, and the killer wrap from Mustang Graphics.
Keep an eye out for more news from the Abused Trucks 4x4 team, including our 2010 winter schedule. Our new Abused Trucks 4x4 web site is coming soon and be sure to follow us on Facebook (Heart Breaker Racing)!!  (11/24/09)

Round Two of CFP's Road to Pocatello This Weekend In Cincy!!:  The 2009-2010 Monster Truck Winter Nationals title chase is on and rounds two & three are this weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio!!  The Cincinnati Gardens plays host to monster trucks Friday & Saturday night as defending CFP Champion Larry Swim in Bigfoot Bad Boy takes on Darren Migues in Bounty Hunter in wheelie and freestyle competition. Those two drivers are the ones everyone is talking about, but don't count out Jon Zimmer in Amsoil Shock Therapy, Chris Ryan in Excaliber or Drew Haygood as he debuts the Desperado. Bill Payne in the Rock Star jumped out to the early points lead last weekend in Billings, Montana but Larry Swim is looking to retake the #1 spot with a strong showing in Cincinnati. It will be the final show for the current Bigfoot Bad Boy body, so don't be surprised to see Swim take it past the limit!!  Migues in Bounty Hunter will be tough however as he embarks on his first championship chase on the '09-'10 CFP Tour.

The monster trucks aren't all that is going at the Gardens this weekend however, as fans will be witness to transformer madness. E3 Spark Plugs & Lucas Oil Will Join Team BIGFOOT For Monster Nationals Series!!:  (Indianapolis, IN) In 1974, Bob Chandler created a machine that started a worldwide craze. It later became known as "Bigfoot". It was a larger-than-life, car-crushing "monster truck". It was the original monster truck. Now, 35 years later, there is a "Team Bigfoot" featuring the trucks that followed the original-still owned and created by Chandler of Hazelwood, MO. Team Bigfoot thrills crowds around the world with more than just crushing cars. Now, the powerful machines do wheelies, jump through the sky over impossibly high obstacles and roar and spin around tight racing courses.
In celebration of 35 years of thrills, Chandler's team will unveil a special 35th anniversary Bigfoot at the E3 Spark Plugs Monster Nationals Presented by Lucas Oil series of arena shows across the Midwest this fall and winter. In addition to the 35th anniversary logo, this machine will carry the logos of E3 Spark Plugs and Lucas Oil. These two companies will be partnering with Team Bigfoot through the first quarter, 2010 on a vehicle recently named one of the "Top Five Marketing Vehicles of All Time" by the St. Louis-based experimental marketing firm Pro Motion.

Steve Joiner, Vice President Sales and Marketing-E3 said: "We are very proud of the E3 Spark Plugs Monster Nationals Presented by Lucas Oil. And when it comes to putting our E3 logo on a monster truck, we want to be associated with the best. You can't do better than getting on board with the man who invented the monster truck-Bob Chandler and the Bigfoot crew. The new Bigfoot truck is spectacular. We can't wait to see it in action at the Monster Nationals events."
Bob Patison, Executive Vice President- Lucas Oil Products said: "After 35 years, Bigfoot is still on top. It's a legend. At Lucas Oil, we have enjoyed working with racing teams and venues that are built from the grass roots up. What better story of grass roots growth could there be than Bob Chandler's? It's a lot like our own Lucas Oil story--humble beginnings to worldwide popularity. Most of all, we appreciate quality and attention to detail, and that's what Team Bigfoot is all about."
Bob Chandler of Team Bigfoot said: "It's hard to believe it has been 35 years. We are very proud of this special Bigfoot that will carry the E3 and Lucas Oil colors for this series. Most of all, we are looking forward to putting on a great show and getting to meet all the Bigfoot fans at the Monster Nationals Shows."
The 2009-2010 Monster Nationals shows are scheduled in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Patrick, Koehler 2009 South Pacific World Finals II Champions!!:  After another great year of continued improvement for the Australian Monsters Tour of Destruction, tonight's South Pacific World Finals II went off in fine fashion with some great racing and freestyle competition at Brisbane International Speedway!!  Six American drivers took on four Australians in a great battle for the 2009 racing and freestyle championships. The Aussies proved they were ready for a fight when young Billy Featherby in Scooby Doo laid down the fast time in qualifying, edging out Dan Patrick in Samson, Paul Shafer in Monster Patrol, Kreg Christensen in Outback Thunda II, and Clive Featherby in Outback Thunda I.
The fastest trucks made their through the first two rounds to meet in the semi-finals. Billy Featherby would take on Kreg Christensen and in a close race, it was Christensen powering out of the turn and taking the win. The next race was a classic as Dan Patrick and Clive Featherby had a great race to the line with Patrick barely taking the win setting up the all-American finals. In another photo finish, Christensen had trouble keeping the truck straight coming to the line while Patrick stayed smooth, taking the win. Congratulations to Dan Patrick and Samson for successfully defending his title from 2008 and again winning the South Pacific World Finals Racing Championship!

Freestyle would see Patrick continue to have a great evening, putting together a solid run for a score of 15 points out of a possible 20. Things really kicked into high gear when the Featherby boys took to the track however. 14 year old Jay Featherby had some great moves including huge sky wheelies, big air over the bus and the destruction of an RV for a score of 16 to take the lead. 17 year old brother Billy roared to the track in Scooby Doo, but a massive sky wheelie on his second hit would result in a rough landing, sending the truck up and over on its lid. Another move of the night would come from Paul Jensen in Batman, as a huge sky wheelie would result in broken rear sway bars and end his run early.
Things really shifted into overdrive when Mr. Excitement Jim Koehler hit the track. A jaw-dropping save early in his run gave him the wow moment he needed and he filled out his performance with big sky wheelies, huge air over the bus and a donut to take the lead with a score of 17 and only two trucks left to run.

If anyone could eclipse Koehler, Kreg Christensen would be the man to do it. Christensen was on his way to doing exactly that after destroying an RV and grabbing the biggest air of the night. But a broken shock would bring an early end to Outback Thunda II's run and Kreg would have to settle for a score of 16.

Heartbreak would strike for the national favorite Clive Featherby as a broken rear axle in Outback Thunda I after two hits would keep him from contending for the win. That would leave Jim Koehler as the high score and he is your 2009 South Pacific World Finals Freestyle Champion!!

A big thanks to Clive Featherby and the whole Monsters Tour of Destruction for putting on a great event and for making it available in an online broadcast so those of us night owls here in the states could enjoy it as well. Also an extra big thanks to our good friend Darryl Smith who has provided the great teaser shots you see above, keep an eye out for more photos from him coming soon right here on TMB!!  Keep watching for coverage and more photos of the event at www.DownUnderMonsters.com, amt.mtm2.com, as well as www.MonsterTrucksAustralia.com, and our congratulations to Dan Patrick and Jim Koehler on their 2009 South Pacific World Finals Championships!!  (11/14/09)

Monsters Truck Drag Racing: Bigfoot versus Snake Bite!!:  (Hazelwood, MO) Well fans, Bigfoot 4x4 was invited to the ADRL World Finals in Ennis, Texas at the Texas Motorplex October 23rd and 24th to run BIGFOOT and Snake Bite down the drag strip, and it turned out to be a record-setting event for Team BIGFOOT. We sent Dan Runte in the Summit Racing Equipment BIGFOOT #16 and Larry Swim in the Firestone Snake Bite #14. We have run monsters down the drag strip before, but never side by side on the 1/8 mile!

We raced Friday night at 11:15 p.m. and boy did we surprise the crowd. We think they were just expecting the trucks to race down the track, but we had a REAL surprise for them. We were able to do very smoky burnouts in the box and carried them right thru the starting line!! It was awesome. Then it was race time!  Dan ran 8.221 at 84.27 mph and Larry ran an 8.349 at 79.21 mph.
On Saturday we were trying to find out who had the fastest speed for a Monster Truck and found that War Wizard ran at 84.328 mph (on a runway). Realizing just how close we were to beating that record on Friday, we thought we might have a chance on Saturday. The guys actually ended up racing at 1:13 am on Sunday the 25th, but Dan was able to eclipse the record by running an 8.261 at 84.49 mph! Larry had a little problem with traction at the starting line and ran a 10.861 at 74.88 mph.

What a great weekend of drag racing!!  We would like to thank the ADRL and Summit Racing Equipment for giving us this opportunity. For more photos and video of the trucks' runs, head on over to www.Bigfoot4x4.com!!  (11/02/09)
