TMB Official 2009 Industry Statistics Released!!:  TheMonsterBlog.com is proud to release our Official 2009 Industry Statistics!!  After a long year of tracking results for over 540 events held in 2009, whether it be in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia or anywhere else, if there was a racing and/or freestyle winner, you saw it recorded on our 2009 Results Tracker.

This kind of industry-wide stat tracking is unprecedented in monster truck history, and allows for all kinds of interesting information. A total of 240 different drivers competed in events this year with 141 picking up a racing or freestyle victory. The biggest promoter is by far Feld Entertainment after producing events in a total of 131 venues this year. Outlaw Monster Trucks (46), AMP Live Events (34), Checkered Flag Productions (29), and Extreme Monster Trucks Australia (19) round out the top five busiest promoters. The busiest driver in 2009 was Darren Migues with Bounty Hunter as he competed in 85 individual shows. Joe Miller - Iron Outlaw (80), Chris Bergeron - Brutus (73), Jim Koehler - Avenger (70), and Jimmy Creten - Bounty Hunter (65) made up the top five busiest drivers in 2009.
But one of the most important things all these stats allow us to do is see how drivers stack up against each other at the end of a season. Below is the top performer in nine different categories measuring a driver's racing, freestyle and overall performance this year:

Most Overall Wins: Jimmy Creten Bounty Hunter 74.5 wins
Most Overall Wins w/8+ Trucks: Tom Meents Maximum Destruction 32 wins
Best Overall Win Percentage: Dennis Anderson Grave Digger 67%
Most Racing Wins: Jimmy Creten Bounty Hunter 31 wins
Most Racing Wins w/8+ Trucks: Jimmy Creten Bounty Hunter 16 wins

SPEED to Air LIVE Coverage of Atlanta, Georgia Monster Jam!!: (Aurora, IL)  Feld Motor Sports announced today that SPEED will air the first-ever, live motorsports doubleheader with two of Feld Motor Sports’ most popular properties to open the 2010 racing season.
On Saturday, Jan. 9, SPEED will present six-and-half hours of live programming, starting with Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® live (7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT) from Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, followed by the season-opening Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, race from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. beginning at 10 pm. ET/7 p.m. PT.

“We can’t wait to produce these two great motorsports events,” said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP of Production & Network Operations. “Monster Jam is already a really cool property on the network, but it will truly be unbelievable when you think about a live production. Whether you’re eight or 80 years old, everyone enjoys monster trucks. When you combine that with the biggest race of the Monster Energy® Supercross season – Anaheim 1 – SPEED will have more than six hours of outstanding live motorsports programming from our great partners at Feld Motor Sports.”
“This is the ultimate six hours of pure motorsports coverage live from one of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam’s premier tour stops (the Georgia Dome) and the highly anticipated Anaheim 1 Monster Energy® Supercross race,” said Charlie Mancuso, President of Feld Motor Sports. “Fans will be able to literally change gears from three hours of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam coverage to three hours of Monster Energy® Supercross as this unprecedented night of live television unfolds on January 9.”
The live Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam presentation from Atlanta is expected to be one of the property’s largest to date, as the sport’s biggest stars, including Grave Digger® driver Dennis Anderson and Maximum Destruction® driver Tom Meents, will battle it out in front of a capacity crowd at the Georgia Dome. This show also marks the first time ever Monster Jam will be presented live for a television audience.
Immediately following Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, SPEED will take fans out to the West Coast where Feld Motor Sports will kick off the 2010 Monster Energy® Supercross season with its traditional opener from Anaheim – considered the crown jewel of the championship. This year’s championship is considered one of the most anticipated title chases ever as defending champion James Stewart will try to hold off challenges from heated rival Chad Reed and upstart competitor Ryan Villopoto, who won the season finale in Las Vegas last May.

Driving the Off-Road Centers trucks will be David Brown in Monster Patrol and Jeremy Shipman in the Voodoo Doctor.

Darren has stepped up to the plate testing the trucks, over and over to get them in top performing shape. Darren has completely redone the Sin City Crusher from shocks, motor, transmission and a new wrap on the truck as he did not like the imperfections of the first wrap on the Willies body. And the Grounds Allready Shakin!!  (12/14/09)

Bigfoot Makes Monster Donation to Marines' Toys for Tots!!: (Hazelwood, MO)  The Marine Toys For Tots Foundation received a visit and a sizeable donation of toys from the biggest name in monster trucks this past Saturday, during toy drives at Wal-Mart stores in Eureka and Fenton, Missouri. BIGFOOT #1, The Original Monster Truck®, and legendary driver Jim Kramer stopped by the Marines' toy drive booth in Eureka, while veteran driver Ron Bachman and BIGFOOT #12 spent the day helping collect toys and greeting fans in Fenton.

In addition to donating their time to help the Marines and local firefighters collect toys, the BIGFOOT team donated over 300 BIGFOOT toys to the organization. While on display at the toy drives, the BIGFOOT team was joined by representatives from St. Louis-based oil company Schaeffer Oil, who helped arrange the trucks' appearances. Schaeffer Oil, BIGFOOT's newest sponsor, not only helped coordinate the appearances but also provided brand-new 55-gallon barrels that were filled to the brim and beyond with the BIGFOOT toys.
"We had an absolute blast helping out Toys For Tots," said BIGFOOT Vice President Jim Kramer. "The Marines and firefighters do so much for our country that helping collect donations and donating some toys of our own really was the least we could do." Team member Ron Bachman echoed those sentiments: "I've been all around the world with BIGFOOT, but helping out at an event like this close to home is one of the most rewarding things we do with the trucks. Knowing that we are helping make the holiday season fun for a lot of deserving kids is a great feeling."
"BIGFOOT has called the St. Louis area home since its inception in 1975," added Kramer. "It means a great deal to us to participate in events like this each year. Helping out our community is just as much a part of what we do as racing and crushing cars is." Schaeffer Oil Director of Marketing Maureen Missimore was equally ecstatic about the events: "Having not one, but two BIGFOOT trucks helping with the toy drives was just fantastic." She noted that "having the trucks as part of the toy drives helped greatly; it was heartwarming to see so many shoppers donating to a great cause! BIGFOOT and Schaeffer Oil are pioneers in their respective industries, and it was an awesome sight to see both of them giving back to their community."

Greg & Zach Adams Grab Two Awards at MTRA Banquet!!: (St. Louis, MO)  Bar’s Leaks / Rislone monster truck drivers Greg and Zach Adams took home their share of hardware this past weekend in St. Louis at the Monster Truck Racing Association’s annual awards banquet. The father and son duo made big waves in the monster truck industry in 2009 by stepping up their game considerably, and that earned their Truk Wurks team the 2009 Most Improved Team award. While the elder Adams was a rookie in the organization 21 years ago, young Zach Adams enjoyed a successful rookie season in 2009, capped off with the MTRA’s Rookie Of The Year honors.
“I’m very proud of our team, and it definitely means a lot to bring home these two awards,” said Greg Adams, Bar’s Leaks Eliminator driver and Truk Wurks general manager. “We went from a very spartan one-truck team to a full-blown two truck operation. With the help of Bar’s Leaks and Rislone we’ve not only done that, but we’ve upgraded to a fully vinyl-wrapped 18-wheeler transporter, and moved our team and off-road shop into a new, state-of-the-art facility.” While the nuts and bolts improvement to the operation are easily visible, the team’s performance behind the scenes and off the track aren’t as readily seen.

“Saying that we ‘put in a great deal of time’ working on the new Rislone Defender monster truck is putting it nicely,” explained Defender driver and Truk Wurks owner Zach Adams. “The truth is we had to work our butts off just about every night we weren’t at an event to get the truck
finished in time for the outdoor season. It definitely took its toll on us, but when the truck finally drove out on the track for the first time in May, it was a total relief.”
When the Defender did debut, fans and members of the Truk Wurks team knew immediately that Zach had the skills behind the wheel to make a name for himself, and the Rislone Defender. After steadily improving over the course of the summer, and despite the normal teething problems experienced with an all-new truck, Zach saw his first-year driving career peak in Albany, NY during his first-ever indoor arena show. Zach piloted his Rislone machine to the final round of racing both nights, loosing out narrowly to veteran driver Rick Long in Bigfoot. Along the way, Zach managed to defeat his father in the semi-finals of racing each night, and nearly experienced his first rollover during a hair-raising wheelie contest effort.

“I’m very proud of Zach,” said Greg Adams. “Learning to drive a monster truck back when I started was a bit easier than it is today. It may have been a bit more punishing physically, but the trucks just weren’t doing the kinds of things we ask them to these days.” He added that “Zach really stepped up in a high-pressure situation and made it look easy. I definitely didn’t cut him any slack, and for many shows we had no crew other than he and I, so he earned every bit of that award.”
So while the Truk Wurks team may have won the Most Improved Team award for 2009, that doesn’t mean they are planning on slowing down any. “We are looking forward to a very busy 2010 schedule,” said Zach Adams. “We’ve changed a few things around on the trucks, made some improvements here and there, and best of all I’m not a rookie anymore!” His father echoes those sentiments: “Getting this team built up to what it is today was the hard part. I think with that behind us, we’ll have a lot more fun and pick up even more wins in 2010. I can’t say enough about how good Bar’s Leaks and Rislone have been to us, without them we wouldn’t be anywhere close to where we are now. I can’t wait to charge into 2010 and beyond with our Bar’s Leaks and Rislone monsters!”
